Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

being launched right now.

LMAO Xiaomi still in bed with SD625. After 100 year into future when Apple might have moved to A110, Google might have their own G100 and Huawei might have Kirin K9999999, Xiaomi will still be reusing SD625.
Turd SD625 is 2 year old SOC btw.

Can't believe Indians fap so much to Xiaomi and their outdated low end phones. There are better options available.

625 has enough processing power for the budget segment ! Besides, the prices have been reduced by 1k over Note 4 !

Note 5 ticks all the right boxes for the target audience - bigger 18:9 ~6" screen, thinner bezels, front flash, big battery !

Wow 1k reduced for a 2 year old SOC. Great.

He's got a point, they can still put on a latest version of SD625,may be like a SD626 or something which Qualcomm has improved over SD625 and has pushed as a next iteration for 625,but Xiaomi doesn't want to experiment which isn't great IMO :/
They have pushed SD625 in almost all of it's devices last year,so making one more SD625 is just sad

That would have priced it closer to the Pro ! There is not much breathing space between segments !

625 is a tried & tested warhorse for the sub-10k segment !

Lets see it this way - Note 5 Pro is the successor to the Note 4 (priced 1k more than the Note 4 was at launch) ! Note 5 is just a Note 4 with a facelift meant to extend its life !

It had great potential !

based on the stupid twitter poll they ran and deleted... they seem to believe that people actually like their ad infested miui interface over stock android. i mean i think it is great for some cases. i use the lite version on dad's phone. he is able to use a smartphone because of the large boxy ui that is not available on stock android (without using third party apps).

i mean it's not like mi has to release new versions of the mi a1. it would be great if they do. but android one devices are usually special launches done in partnership with google. they could capitalize on the success and keep launching one Android One (or Google Go) phone per year and benefit from that segment of the market that cares about stock android and faster updates (of the actual Android OS and not just the UI layer over it).
