After receiving the sms I went to the voda store near my house, to get my cell number verified & was told ‘SERVER DOWN’. I was told it was the same story yesterday too. It was made to looks like the UDAI server was down but it could have been the Vodafone server !!! strangely they seem to be using the fingerprint scanner which is used fr staff to log in to their work station

I received similar SMS.

Last time I used fingerprint.. it did not work (at reliance JIO centers)

I wonder if they have Mobile OTP based verification.

I am not comfortable giving away fingerprint.

2nd visit 17-7-2017 just back from my visit to ur store & its still the same story ‘SERVER DOWN’ this time he was not even interested in checking. Again he insisted it’s the UDAI server which is the problem, I wonder if it really the case or they are not interested in this work. My exp with all org’s is KYC is nt considered priority. I wonder if their system knows how many no’s r processed coz family member r getting the sms when they haven’t even processed the no’s fr whom they sent sms on saturday. His colleague via DM told me carry to carry a photocopy but your store staff say 'just carry ur Aadhar no.' looks like even these guys r NOT AWARE of the real procedure. He actually asked me to take a chance after 5pm today. DISGUSTED. One joker actually asked 'why not take a chance at 5 pm'. When I asked for the store number, so I can ask if all systems r running bfore going there, I was told they DONT HAVE A STORE NUMBER. A telecom company which does not have tel number for their store. Weird

UPDATE 18-7-2017. After writing an email to customer care & nodal office, i got a call from their so called 'social media' office (I suspect its part of the nodal office). The joker could understand ONLY the last sentence of post #3 above. So I gave him the entire timeline of events & an unvarnished opinion of what I think of their staff at that store & their 'systems'. After 4.5 mins he quickly said he would speak to the store & get back to me. But till now no call. I guess getting a frank opinion of the kaam chor characters in that shop was too much for him. I also rang up their mini store in another area close by (yes they have a tel number) the lady politely told me that this work is done between 12 & 5 with 2.30-3 being lunch hour. She also told me that there was no problem yesterday with systems or server. So that just goes to prove my initial suspicion was correct. The problem was local to the vodafone shop.

UPDATE 19-7-2016: I went to the Vodafone mini store in my area who does the EKYC (I confirmed this on the phone) & got my job done in less than 10 mins. It seems they are compulsorily changing old 3G SIMS (they were out of stock). Since mine was a 4G sim I had no problem but I still have to get an sms which I was told would come within 24 hrs

UPDATE 20-7-2017: Got the confirmation sms from Vodafone today which goes like this "Update request of your personal information for number 98XXXXXXXX is successfully submitted. If you have not requested this,SMS EKYC N to 53993 within 24 hours"

What would happen if I send SMS "EKYC Y" to 53993?? (Yes instead of No)

Will it register for EKYC without giving Aadhar details?? 😀
