I bought a new connection for excitel and i told my lco that i have a router but when he came to my home he told me that the router has only 4 ports and for thier connection they need router with 8 ports.I thought they need only rj 45 port in the router.

Can somebody suggest a good router?

It seems like a regular wireless router and should work fine with Excitel. Have you tried configuring it yourself?

I havent tried it yet.but i only need to plug in Rj 45 cable to router and set the connection to ppoe and enter the username and password in the router webpage.
Do i need to do anything else?

To access the internet wirelessly?

Some LCO require you to enter service name as 'excitel'.
TP-Link original firmware doesn't have that option but installing DDWRT will provide you one.
Try direct dialup and put service name as excitel you'll be connected instantly.

I'm using the same router and it works flawlessly with excitel. LCO's just try to fool customers to make some money.
To setup the router ,login using 192.168.0.1.
Then on the left side , click on network.
Select the WAN connection type as PPPOE/Russia PPPOE.
Under PPPOE connection settings, type the username and password provided by excitel.
Click on connect and then save.
Then under the same tab , just next to save option , click on advance , and under service name , type 'excitel' without commas, then click save.
You are good to go🙂

@Sushubh My LCO has multiple PPPoE servers , the router keeps connecting to wrong server without service name. So, probably for router to identify PPPoE server correctly. Do you have Edgerouter X ? Does it have service name field in GUI?

I have a TP-Link load balancer. It does have a Service Name field.
