Line maintenance charges?!

i do it every month now. coz no one from CTO answers and the sify chandigarh office never has the package i wanted.

That wont let you escape. I have been renewing online since 2 months and within a week of renewal my cto calls me up for maintenance charges. i argued and he brought it doen from 250 to 200 bucks. Apparently he has profit sharing issues with sify since the past few months. Hence he's demanding more under the pretext of "maintenance". i refused in the first month and the b*tch cut my conn for 2 days. i called up the sify guys, their engg came but how can the poor fellow have know about the intricate ways in which the cto has laid his lines....so i just pay up...

My CTO started charging Rs. 200 extra when Sify reduced their prices by around the same value. He blocked my IP address the one time I byp@$$ed him and renewed online.It didn't exactly leave me offline because I could get online using another IP but the CTO's arbitrary actions without even intimating me of the new extra charges left me seething.

I now pay Rs 100 pm as maintenance instead of 200......Airtel Has laid down cables in my area......The AIRTEL EFFECT

Yeah pretty good news....but airtel is a bit xpensive.....i think phone is also necessary....and there are no plans that suit me.....I want some good deal at around Rs 500 pm...may be they offer 1 GB at Rs 500.....i will try it out.You know wat Airtel has laid cables in each and every back lane of our colony and they have taken out a cable behind the wall of each house and plastered it up on the wall with hooks......Looks like they are going to give us connections forcefully.....And with all this my CTO has become a bit submissive

If to me, Yeah I am not financially independent....i dont want to put extra strain on my ageing parents resources.

I cant spend Rs 2500 per month for a 128x2 unlimited connection.


Everybody has his/her limitations.

It's nothing to being an indian....Indians have lot of other bad habits to talk of.

And Sify is giving me a decent if not very good service....definitely not a pathetic service as u mentioned.....may be to u it was pathetic....but that doesnt mean it is pathetic to all....it gives me constant 7-8KBPS.....I dont need more

I agree with google_singh.

We are not talking about buying spurious ration from the corner shop to get it cheap. We are talking about a service priced decently with some decent levels of service.

People in urban India aren't going to spend 10 % of their monthly salary just to get some service are they?

And Rs. 600 isn't any cheap either. It's appropriate for an internet service.

This sounds the same as what one Cust Care Rep or some Sify official had told some member of this forum that what more can you expect for Rs. 600 / month. This is just a plainly ridiculous thing to say.

Incidentally google_singh, I think airtel has a Rs. 600/month pack. Maybe you've got to shell out around a thousand for the installation, not sure, check it out at airtel's website.

the point was, since u have a better alternative and ur current provider is not going to get any better (we have enough proof on that)... and there is not much of a cost difference (i know coz i have seen the packages)... anyone sane would stop whining and move on.
