Hi Guys,

I am facing peculiar problem since the past week. 5-6 days ago, my net used to go down every 2hours and just unplugging the incoming Excitel LAN wire from Xiaomi router (pppoe) and plugging it back used to make the internet work again.

However since the past 2-3 days, I need to keep unplugging and plugging the wire 5-6 times into the router to make it work. Earlier I thought, it's an issue with Xiaomi Router. However, yesterday I got Hathway activated and started using Xiaomi router via DHCP and it's working flawlessly.

Also at the same time I tried using Excitel via Tenda Router (pppoe) and exactly the same issue occurs. Need to unplug/plug the incoming LAN wire to make it work. I am pretty sure two routers can't have the same issue and specially when both work flawlessly with Hathway (though routers with hathway work via DHCP and not pppoe)

Lastly, I thought it must be an issue with RJ 45 jack of the incoming excitel wire, however then i tried connecting the same wire to my laptop directly and setup net via pppoe. Everytime, I connect the incoming lan wire directly into the Laptop without any router, net always works.

So, I am banging my head and not able to understand what the issue is. If there was an issue with the incoming line, then net shouldn't be working on laptop without any router. However, if there was an issue with any of the routers, then those routers won't have worked flawlessly with hathway.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Regards,

hi its the problem with pppoe mode when your isp gives nats the private ip to publick ip the problem will bee seen in most of the routers except the routers made buy D-Link and Netgear iam allways used to fase this problem when i configured my act connection over pppoe mode

It has got nothing to do with Router. My net had this issue for 2 weeks and post that it started working normally. Router is still the same.

For TP-Link you do not need any specific settings... just enter your Excitel user name & password under Network-> WAN........ nothing else....

Rest of the settings as per your network... WiFi/ Security/ Mac filters etc....

I seem to have a very similar but even more peculiar issue.
I have 3 routers.
1. TP-Link TL-WR720N (2.4ghz) router (old router, stopped using because it's max wifi speed is 35-40 mbps)
2. D-Link DIR-816 (5 ghz Dual Band) (bought it last year to replace TP-Link router
3. Netgear R6080 (5ghz Dual Band) (bought it yesterday)

Been using D-Link Router since June Last year and it was working properly and I was getting around 90 Mbps on both Lan (desktop) and Wifi (5ghz). (apart from usual excitel connectivity issues).
Started facing intermittent connection issues a few weeks ago and 3 days ago they asked me to reset my modem. Which I did. After the reset, and reconfiguration of Router I only get 9 Mbps download speed and around 14 Mbps upload speed.
I called Excitel customer care and they said that my router is faulty.
I called D-Link customer supoort, and they tried everything from firmware update to firmware flash and still I got 9mbps speed. So they said might be something wrong with the Router and asked me to take to service center. But service center guys refused to accept it as I had misplaced my bill. Okay. Done and dusted.

Ordered a new router yesterday and received it today. It is a NetGear R6080 Dual Band Router. After I set it up, funny thing happened. I'm getting 9 Mbps on this new router as well! I contacted Netgear customer service and they updated the firmware and did resetting and still I'm getting 9Mbps.

What is weird is that the oldest of the 3 Routers, TP Link (2.4Ghz 150Mbps) Router is giving me 90Mbps on Lan (Desktop) and 35-40 Mbps on Wifi.

But newer and more advanced Routers are giving me 9Mbps. I have tried everything, including scratching my head for hours. Still no clue why this is happening.

Please can anyone help?

Check if one of the LAN port speed is getting stuck at 10 Mbps instead of auto-negotiating to 100 Mbps full-duplex.

Already tried that, manually set it to 100Mbps with no effect.
This issue has really perplexed me.
