i dont think so that they wud do that.as in mumbai, minimum speed is (upto) 2mbps. all plans with 256k are now gone (even NU is now 2mbps)

I am sure they won't do that............If they do, they would effectively kill IPTV business before it even becomes popular.Imagine when they tell customers if u want IPTV your internet speed will be reduced to 256 from 2Mbps, the customer will simply say give me Triband @2Mbps and keep IPTV for urself...... :rofl:

don't ask me why they will do it.... but i got some info ... take it at face value and hope its not true...i was also like :wall:when i first got to know about this

yes, i was talking abt the free channels on the net which can be seen by mtnl's stb

Mr Ankit u have got ur concepts mixed up..free channels on the net are streaming channels..u pay for them and watch them on ur PC itself..no MTNL STB involved..and as far MTNL stb is concerned it will have only those channels which the headend of MTNL pulls down from the satellite and then encodes into MPEG2 (or other compressed format)and beams it thru ur tel. phone wire..and this beam is contained in a differnet channel on ur line..if u see ur modem is capable of supporting upto 8 different channels (DSL 502T) called PVC's (permanent virtual circuits) each with different VPI and VCI values which are used to transmit different services on the same wire like IPTV and BB..

and as fas as the speed issue is concerned IPTV will have an effect on net speed unless sync rate is increased..i have experienced IPTV abroad and the speed used to drop by 1 mbps from 6 to 5 when TV was on..

Sorry if asked before,Whats the compression used and apprx bitrate..Whats are the sync speeds

abt the speed reduction thing:has anyone in delhi yet seen speed reduction in Net connection?what will be a broadband connection without 2Mpbps speed !😡what about persons who have taken 749NU in delhi? they pay Rs 160 extra now without any speeds? :madness:

^^^Its just an unconfirmed speculation from one of the members here who got to know about this from MTNL Office, nothing is for sure.

So enjoy ur 2mbps speeds without worries! 🙂

No speed reduction for me.In fact i am getting speeds much more than 2mbps. If Under any circumstance they reduce their speed for triband from 2mbps to 256 kbps .I will simply dissconnet iptv and go with Tata Sky. All of a sudden it looks like many ppl have decided to be annonymous.🙂

he is in mumbai... they are not touching their speeds .. and as i said yours will be.... :evil: (i want that evil smiley..........🙁)

so it looks your speed has been reduced.I can assure you nothing of this sort has
been planned for mumbai.If this happens nobody is gonna take IPTV.

@all delhites
Just for your info.
Just like you people i was also synced to 256Kbps .I had to wait for 1 week before they actually synced to 2mbps.

@banda
anyway looking at your post .It seems you have already spoken to some higher up and he has confirmed that speed has been reduced.

one more the way iptv works in mumbai and delhi is slightly different.I will most probably update my thread on iptv today.

how much BW has been allocated to u?

i doubt that IPTV can work with 256k speed bound to the port.it must be misunderstanding betn IPTV and MTNL staff. IPTV staff must have asked for speed change, and MTNL staff must have assumed speed change to low speed

they do not sync the modem @256kbps (that will of course make it impossible to stream iptv). instead the speed for the internet will be changed to 256kbps... (just like when ppl get their plan changed and are synced to 2mbps but are still on 256kbps).. explaining this again and again should be making me mad by now....😕my modem is synced @3mbps

let me make it more clear to you
for iptv BW alloted is 4mbps
for triband bw alloted depends on your plan ;from 256Kbps to 2mbps.
So i am getting a combined BW of 6mbps.
I just called up iol cc and he told me nothing of this sort has been planned.
Rest assured speed change wont occur in mumbai.
In worst case scenario MTNL may cap triband speed to 256kbps max.
