Excitel doesn't provide Public static IP. So I think I have a alternative to providing a public static IP. I tried contacting Excitel by Email but only thing they said is " we will forward the feedback" . I thought this forum might be a better place for this.

1. Excitel should provide all its users a private static IP Address like (10.x.x.x) or (172.x.x.x)
2. All of the Excitel users should be on the same network. Excitel should not put different LCO Users on different router/subnets.
3. Excitel should operate a L2TP/PPTP/ OpenVPN Server on a public IP reserved for its users so that users can connect to it from WAN using their logins.
4. Excitel should open up ALL the ports on their local network.

This will allow the users to connect to their home servers, cams etc from WAN.

@Excitel

This is not at all a proper solution. The proper solution would be to switch to ipv6 ASAP.

If you still need a static IP, get a VPS, tunnel your traffic to the VPS via a VPN (preferably Open VPN) then open the required ports on the VPS and forward all the traffic to your router via VPN.
Pretty easy and fun if you know all the dynamics.

But that will add latency , not desirable for my use case ie to stream games. I may consider a VPS hosted in Delhi to see if it works ok or not.

I hope that Excitel does this, its not the best solution but it will fix most of the Static IP and Double NAT Problems.

OR @Excitel can forward some ports to users who ask for them? This so alteast certain services like CCTVs etc can be access by US online.

I tried asking them about forwarding some ports. They said they forwarded all "domestic" ports. But forwarding ports wouldn't give users an address accessible from the Internet. Some softwares rrequire you to enter your IP Address, if your IP is a private one then it will be impossible to set up such software.

Port forwarding can help those who needs to do basic stuff not dependent on specific ports to be open. As a start, CCTVs can work. If any specific port is assigned to me at all times than, whatever is my public IP (which is also shared by multiple users) combined with that port can be used by me. A hit on that public ip with that port will be forwarding to my internal ip assigned at the time.

Sure I would still have to use some DDNS service.

@Excitel @philip marlowe What does it mean? Port forwarding requires static IP? Makes perfect sense amirite?

Turnss out Server for "delhiwebhosting" is in France. 150ms Latnecy! Anything more than 20ms is unplayable for gamestream.
