based on posts in another thread... do not switch to vfiber if they do not have the Huawei modem in stock. the beetel/binatone modem is supposedly crap.

Talked to engineer who came to install this, while I was in office, he said the firmware issue has been fixed and Huawei is not in stock, he says if any issue arises in a week, he would replace the modem with next available.
I am surprised he has not taken the Beetel 450TC back !!!!!!!

good luck. people are reporting that it goes down multiple times every day.

So I called up the customer care to check regarding availability of 40MBPS in my area, they confirmed for the same. Now the thing is I'm currently on 4MBPS plan and wished to upgrade to atleast 8MBPS without purchasing any special router from them since standalone PPPoE modems are capable of processing atleast 16MBPS. However the guy over the phone denied changing the plan to 8mbps speed because I need that special router capable of handling V-Fiber. Are they indulging into yet again fool-marketry and forcing customers to buy Airtel branded routers for ₹1000 and attach it's MAC on their network even for 8MBPS plan?

if they are offering 8mbps over ADSL then you need not change your modem. but if they are offering 8mbps only on VDSL then you need to get VDSL compatible modem/router (Huawei HG630a)

yup. my area only has 4mbps over adsl. but 16mbps over vdsl. airtel would not entertain speeds over what they support because they have to address the complaints when services provided are not according to what is being promised.

Alright thanks for clarifying however the thing is that, at my other office I've been using 16MBPs from last 5 years when VDSL wasn't introduced and the area is already upgraded to 40mbps zone around a year back and since then no router has been replaced i.e. I'm still using the same old D-Link modem that I bought which is capable of handling 24 Mbps downstream.

So it seems they are still handling 16mbps over ADSL simultaneous with VDSL but are refusing to change the plan code for my other office in Noida.

As others have tried to explain, ADSL/VDSL are sensitive to distance (loop length) from exchange so not all areas support 16 mpbs on ADSL. In such areas you need to upgrade to VDSL even to attain 16 mbps.

My connection was supposed to be disconnected by today. Someone from retention dept called and offered 140GB @ 40 Mbps with unlimited calls for just 400 rupees. Anyone heard of such plan?

It is for 6 months. I can avail the same plan or a better one after 6 months by emailing their nodal officer.

Somewhere close to Rs. 1000 I guess. I already have Rs. 200 lifetime discount activated on top of it.

Nice! Why can't they make these plans available for everyone, only when you threaten, they will give you such plans.
