Cast Kodi to Chromecast

Which model are you using? I think only after Kitkat the casting works fine from Google Home. I too had an issue with old Xolo Q700 which was JellyBean. Its fine now with Redmi 1s which is on Marshmallow

Make PC behave as server, fetch video through mobile app, cast it to TV.
 
As of now, I am using LocalCast and ES File Explorer. Together, they can play almost any media onto Chromecast. I was something that fetches videos from home server ( PC ) as well. Kodi does the job neat. Just that it does not have Chromecast support.
 
to mount as local share for search for a app called 'Mount Manager' or CIFS manager (needs root/kernel support for required modules )
also you can use ES file explorer just to access network share(much easier)
