I read news about Jio collaborating with Google to bring Wifi Calling to all Pixel devices with Snapdragon 821. Now I am already on Android 7.1.2 on my Pixel. There is a Wifi Calling option under Settings -> More -> Wifi Calling. That has been enabled. However, is there a way to know if Jio calls are actually getting routed via Wifi Network? In-call UI does not state that.

Anyone tried it?

PS: This is not same as making wifi calls via Jio4GVoice app over data or wifi network. Do not spam this topic with those questions.

Just like VOLTE you will have icon for VOWIFI...
In my S7 small handset button appears near the WIFI symbol indicating that I am connected to VOWIFI
P.S. I am not in India

VOWIF and VOLTE handover is seamless and smooth

so just to be clear... you can make calls over wireless network of any isp?

Technically, it should just be able to use any WiFi network but In India they would just limit it to JioNet or Jiofi only due to security reasons that are beyond my grasp.

that would make it quite pointless lol. i guess government regulations are stupid enough to not allow that. i mean i have a great wired connectivity at home but my dad's jio sim is practically useless over the last couple of days. no incoming no outgoing. internet speeds are below 1mbps. i would at least be able to make calls if wi-fi calling is enabled on all networks. (my dad does not have a pixel so it does not really matter to me right now anyways)

My cheapo on5 pro got vowifi for 6 months now.
Doesn't mean jio allows it.

google announcement mentions jio so it might be enabled for pixel owners. and could be expanded to other devices in future. god knows.

Phone got the latest May update. Wifi calling still doesn't work with my home Wifi.

I heard you can only make wifi calls when connected to JioFi or Wifi network is Jio.
If true then it makes no sense.

So I've ACR (Auto Call Recorder) installed on my phone. Whenever I try to make call a toast notification flashes, stating wifi calls won't be recorded when phone is connected to WiFi other than Jio. Hence, it seems calls are indeed routed via Wifi. Is there any concrete method to test WiFi calls?

easy , move to a zone where network doesn't exist but wifi does like rooms in my house without any windows.
