Currently a company I do business with is having problems with broadband availabilty. I wouldn't put up with the service they are currently receiving.I need to be able to work with them every day, not just some days. Is there anyone with a positive experience with a broadband provider in Patna? Our requirements are in the 1Mbps uplink range and 99% availability. Please help.

1 mbps in patna. now that would be tough to get with 99% uptime.

sify 😕 its the worst out there. unless u are talking abt a commecial leased like. sify broadband as a public ISP service is absolutely out of the question. do not believe any word they say. its going to be a nightmare for you.

Actually I have been reading the forums. I was hoping someone would argue the case for SIFY's commercial services. They've given us a quote for 1Mbps wireless broadband service and a quaranteed 99.5% uptime. As we've found out a guarantee means nothing in Patna because the ISP always blames their carrier. Before making this choice I thought I'd get in touch with real users. We currently have a lease line but the service is troublesome. Last week I was told the whole state of Bihar was without service for a day. When the network is down there are people that can't work 🙁Thanks to all that have replied so far, your comments are helping.

Hey why dont u go for a radio link or better a satellite, vsat link.Atleast you will get 99% uptime, and the control of it will remain in your hand. You wont have to run after a pathetic CTO Or if you can get sify to sign on a stamp paper that they will give 99% availablitity, with 1mbps all the time and that in end they wont say that it was because of the CTO that you didnot get the service. Also put in a clause stating how much penalty you will put on them for every minute the line is down.If you can get this, then ok.Still after this i would say you dont go for sify, if you want your business to survive.

Our concerns with satellite is the degredation due to weather. We really need a stable, consistent connection. Unfortunately, there isn't enough competition in Patna to force the ISPs to respond to their customers. It kind of reminds me of the US in the 80's and early 90's.Your suggestion of a penalty for non-performance sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

trust me no ISP would go for that. and well their is no competition for the ISPs everywhere in india!

Sushubh keep this forum going and I'm sure there will eventually be competition. Europeans and North Americans will see the opportunity for investment. India is too big to only have good service in a couple cities.Of course, no ISP wants the competition 😉 But they've set the standard of performance so low, that just about anyone could do better!

this forum is on as long as it generates enough money to keep paying for its hosting 🙂
