have you ever given the thought that your problem might be related to heating. my friends cpu fan wasnt working and that caused his comp to hang up as soon as it booted. check to see if your cpu fan is working.

i checked bios which showed 0rpm for cpu fan and some 3500rpm for processor.
but the fan was running (the cpu one)!

ya i think it was software prob. only. anyways win xp detects the keyboard itself so i won't be needing the software now! 🙂

i had a problem where my comp hung.. so decided to re- install xp... but each time id insert the cd it wud hang at the same license agreement screen.. so i took the cpu to my mom's office to get it repaired frm guys there... n whoa... it was perfectly working there... they told me that wen i got the box in the auto it might have got cooled... now prophet i guess mite be bang on with the fan... its not enuf if it just runs... see if it is properly snapped it...it should be firmly in place... n as it hangs at the same place = same time after restart... it might be that problem...

just throw it in the corner and see if it works 😛

I hope ur problem is solved now 🙂

its a problem with logonui.exe . thats the file that has validations for the user or manages teh welcome screen. it maybe due to the fack that u installed something like stylexp or the longhorn transformation pack . the only choice u have now is to try and see if u can get it in safe mode and do a system restore or ...try and repair the installation if possible if u have a rescue disk or happy reinstalling 😀 ....try getting hold of a PE ( preinstalled envoirment ) to help you copy the data to a different drive for backup

-->i think i used windowblinds for some time and then uninstalled it!(i think).

-->next, when the problem was there (hey guys now pc works ok! no more hangs!) i tried safe mode. the welcome window showed two options:1. administrater and 2. Lokesh NOW, when i clicked on Lokesh the comp. restarted (and still restarts).

--> also where to find PE?
