I believe Jio may not provide stable prepaid plans for the next 1-2 years. They will come out with special offers every three months. Why?

1. Announcing new offers creates tremendous hype.
2. It will help Jio to become household name.
3. They get assured (and higher) denomination recharges
4. Public are happy with new offers and that keeps things fresh.
5. Competition will be in forever guessing mode and will find it difficult to chalk out a strategy to counter Jio.
6. Boss..... they are Ambanis. They know their shit!

If they continue this strategy for the next 2-4 yrs (The rumour is they are trying to add 500 million subscribers by 2022). They will endup with a huge operating loss that may reflect in petrol and diesel prices

Strategy of Ambani is very clear
  1. Get more customer
  2. Offer them more /get them user to(1GB per day or 500 MB is new norm now)
  3. Move them up on ARPU ladder. Minimum monthly recharge of 149. This is above industry average

How many people used mobile for 1GB+ data?? Jio is making sure that people are addicted to data. Get used to daily usage of 500MB+
ARPU of industry is around 120-150 user per month. Jio want to have around 250+
Like summer surprise. Is not available for Rs149 recharge. recharge for 303 + and get the offer
Untimate aim. of Jio...Point 1,2 and 3 mentioned above 🙂

By 15th April around 100 Million customer all paid Rs 99 and Rs 303 with many other recharges also in Queue. Jio probably have already got 4000+ Crores in just Prime and initial 303 recharges.

If they are able to retain 100 Million with ARPU of 250. we are talking revenue equal to half of Airtel or twice of TATA DOCOMO

I doubt that they'll provide free services for any longer than June. CCI can turn a blind eye only for so long. Besides, Jio is already a household name.

Exactly how i picture this whole Jio situation, however you do get what you pay for,It's not like everybody will move to Jio.,some are going to stay with competition because of their usage pattern.

Why do you think the services are free? They are very much paid along with initial Rs. 99 as Prime recharge and 303 on top. But Jio is succeeding in creating a hype that services are FREE FREE FREE. Continue hoinga but paise bhar ke.

Personally I am happy with this strategy. I am also willing pay slightly more for more data. Airtel/Voda treat data as some precious resource/metal with the attitude like the lesser you use the better. But that is a failed strategy and you need to give out more data and then only people will pay up. Jio's strategy is spot on.

AVOID cartel's towers can handle only so much load. They rely heavily on wireless backhaul as opposed to Jio. That's why they are offering the 1GB daily plan as STV for select few customers. Now they don't have any choice than switch to OFC which could take a year or two atleast.

I believe the summer surprise was a last minute improvisation because they couldn't meet their conversion targets.

Who recharge with 99+303/499 will get validity till 15 Aug (3 + 1 month dron 15 April) After that JIO will introduce another offer (Independent Day Offer) for another 90 Days. So basically JIO will be free till 15 Jan 2018 until other operator force to implement VoLTE (VoIP) and government make ICU to ZERO for VoIP (VoLTE).

thanks to jio , voda offered me 346 with 1gb per day validity
its 45 rs extra per month but i get stability and 3g fall back or even 2g whenever 4g is not available unlike jio
and call connectivity is light years ahead than jio .

I think you applied a bit late...... if you have had applied before 15th March... you would have got for 2 months instead of 1 month....
I.e. 56Gb for 56days and unlimited calling as well for 56 days...

But you are definitely right.... there is no comparison between Vodafone and Jio....
As you said Vodafone is lightyears ahead of Jio....

I think you are absolutely right about Reliance getting people hooked on to all the extra data. My Mom, who, until Jio came along, only used the bare minimum data for Uber, Ola and WhatsApp, now watches several hours of TV on Hotstar everyday!

She barely spent around Rs. 100 per month (voice + data) previously, but suddenly recharged with 303 instead of 149 after getting used to the Jio Welcome Offer LOL! That was before Reliance announced the Summer Surprise. Her excuse? I'll be watching the IPL, which will prevent her from watching her beloved saans bahus on TV LOL!

The upshot is that she has also started using her phone to check work emails and stock quotes, so she doesn't fight me for the computer every time she has to use the internet hehe. 😛
