I have just migrated from existing ADSL plan to new VDSL. Earlier I was using my personal router D-Link DSL-2877AL, After upgrade to fibernet new Huawei HG630.

But this router is single band and operates only on 2.4GHz.

Please suggest how to configure my Dlink DSL-2877AL to use with Airtel VDSL??
DSL2877AL support both ADSL and VDSL and is dual band operations.

Could you send the Snapshot of your modem, screenshot of admin panel and all?

Where did you buy it from?

screenshots of D-Link router??

Dont remember correctly, but i think purchased it from ebay or Amazon

You have been using a DSL Modem Cum Router that doesn't have any WAN ports. An easy work around would be to connect the lan ports of both the modems (Huawei + Dlink) and the WiFi on Dlink should pickup. You might also need to disable the WiFi on the Huawei modem. This is just a hit and trial method and i remember doing this with a Reliance DSL Modem and Beetel 220 ADSL Router. Technically, a Router needs to have a WAN port to act as a Router or Repeater.

Try selecting the Internet connection type as VDSL on the Setup>Internet Setup page. Rest of the WAN settings would remain similar to ADSL.

What I think is that your modem is ADSL only and not VDSL.

I have asked Snapshot (Snap/Photo) of Modem so that I could see how it appears.

The version & firmware of DSL-2877AL that D-Link sells in India is a ADSL2+ only modem. It does NOT support VDSL. Only the international variants (US, UK, Australia) of the DSL-2877AL support VDSL.

So net of it, you CANNOT use the 2877AL as your primary modem. I have a DSL-2877AL too, which I bought online from Amazon.in, so I know.

However, in order to continue to enjoy the benefits of dual-band WiFi (both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels) of the 2877AL, you can possibly use the Huawei HG630 in Modem-only mode; and use the D-Link 2877AL in Router-only (Bridge) mode, somewhat like a repeater.

As someone has already suggested above, basically you will need to connect the 2877AL (physically) via the WAN port using an Ethernet cable, and get the Huawei modem to assign a static IP address to your D-Link 2877AL; which in-turn can then act as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to devices that you will connect via WiFi.

A Google search should throw up results on how to set up a Modem-Router in Router-only / Bridge mode.
