Hi, I have noticed it that whenever there is a electricity cut in our area or sometimes in late-night (mid-night), SNR and Downstream both improves (little bit) but does improves.

Parameters improves best in the case of electricity cut-down in our area.

Why this happens? Is that related with the load on the exchange or what?

Load on the exchange would affect your internet speeds not the signal strength. 😛

Could be possibly due to EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) a.k.a cross talk. Your phone line somewhere must be real close to the power line outside or inside the house. When the power goes, the interference temporarily drops.

@Karan Don't you know how Airtel installs wire?

They put it over the electric wires or other companies wires to take it on the pole.

They don't use ladder to install wire. they throw the bundle in air on other wires and then throw again after some distance and this way they reach the home via. throwing to take it in height.

How does it improves in night then?

Simple, demand/load of electricity is lowest at night. 😛

However, in most areas Airtel and most telcos have their cables buried underground. They are on the poles in your area?

@Karan Underground cables are damaged. I mean, they are 12 years or more old.

From Pillar Box (Blue Box) to DP and DP to Home is all done on poles now.

Rest Exchange to Bluebox (Pillar Box) is underground.

I think you know, What I mean by Blue Box?

Blue Box is like a locked box which has connection stuff from Blue Box they take a wire to DP and from DP they take it to the home.

My signal strength improves when I reboot VDSL modem.

Does power-cut make your modem reboot? Maybe when your inverter/backup power supply kicks-in, there is a slight power disconnection.

No. There is no reboot or restart or link down to the modem when power goes and Inverter Kicks in.

SNR improves when it reconnect or restarts
