Hi Guys,

Refer to the 1st post in this topic. I have finally tried the solution on my DSL 502T and it WORKS !!

The only additional thing which u need to do in addition to the things already mentioned in the 1st post is to disable DHCP from Home>>DHCP in the modem settings page and assign a static IP to ur lan card...use 192.168.1.3 ; put the mask in as 255.255.255.0  and Gateway as 192.168.1.1 ; use the foll DNS - Primary 203.94.243.70 ; secondary 203.94.227.70

Save and reboot >> Goto Network connections in Ctrl panel >> Create a new connection >> connect to the internet >> setup my connection manually >> connect using broadband connection that requires username & password >> Put in the ISP name ie MTNL >> put  in ur username and password >> add a shrtcut (will make it easy to find after setting up the connex.)

Thats it...But be careful i have tried this on my router only after i have got the firmware upgraded...coz i crashed even my newly replaced router  😛

FYI, the bug-free firmware ver. No is V2.00B01T01.ML.20050530
The last 8 digits are the key and indicate the date of the firmware...read it backwards ie 30/05/2005 ...any prior date firmware is bound to have problems so dont try it before u upgrade  🙂

Now to automate the process download and install any task scheduler which has the capability of dialing network connections. U can also use the default windows task scheduler but that didnt work for me and i use advanced task scheduler to do the job for me. It flawlessly dials at 12:05 AM and disconnects at 7:50 AM

I was using Advanced Task Scheduler for quite sometime now and it was working great until a few days back my norton antivirus started detecting the advschedule.exe file as a trojan!!! Yes, norton detected advanced task scheduler as a virus. The trojan was called Backdoor.Darkmoon
Every 10 mins norton wud popup a virus alert saying that the .exe was a trojan and it cudnt repair it nor delete it coz it didnt have access to the file. So i finally uninstalled it which too didnt complete successfully coz the advschedule.exe file cud not be removed. Anywayz, finally norton itself removed that file which was the only file remaining in the installation folder. Advanced task scheduler was also slowing down my windows startup and norton wud take longer than usual to start the autoprotect. I didnt mind the system and norton loading slowly but after it was detected as a virus, i had to uninstalled advanced task scheduler. After i uninstalled it the booting started normally and norton loaded much faster.
So im writing this post to warn all u guys who r using advanced task scheduler, to plz uninstall it and search for another task scheduler. I myself am now searching for another one. Windows Task Scheduler sucks. It cant run the mtnl dialer i created after using bridge mode for the router. So does anyone know another task scheduler that works equally good as advanced task scheduler but does not mess with the windows startup or norton and ofcourse is not prone to viruses??? Plz let me know. Thanx.

i suggest u simply use rasdial if u are on windows xp its simplejust make a .bat file with the following command "rasdial nameofconnection login passwd" and set it for 1205 make another batch file with the command "rasdial /disconnect nameofconnection" just check the syntaxes... for the correct syntax make a daily task and set it to repeat every 1 minif u want to reboot your pc along with it make a 3rd batch file and set it for ... shutdown -f have fun experimenting

after going thru all those screwing up of routers.. Just for my knowledge I want to know if using the 'small reset button' (small one on the back side) on the router doesn't restore the factory settings ?????

also make sure ur time is in sync with the MTNL server time...it's a bit fast according to all my clocks and watches...i log off at around 7:54 am and it shows exactly 8:00 am...so just see what it is for u...just do disconnect once and see the exact time of ur PC and correspond it with the MTNL server time in the account usage page...u'll see the time difference...so set it according to that...

i'll see if it works for me when i reach home...

thanks for the solution mate 😀 keept it up!!!
