We never went ahead and decided on some kind of a gift for the top ten contributors on the forum...

I just had this idea while talking with Apoorv... A simple solution would be to offer the top 10 guys a free domain name (valid for 1 Year) and perhaps hosting for a particular time period...

Since getting 10 different shared account on a third party server is going to be a complicated deal, I can start by offering 3 months hosting on the server powering the forum. And if everything works fine... I can extend the hosting for future as well!

What say you?

First 15 will do as i am on 14 th 😛 (if sushubh and newsman r excluded)
 

Good idea Sushubh, but I guess having a lucky draw from all members with minimum 200 posts or more would be more exciting as it gives more involvement of relatively new members also.It will motivate new people to participate more, just a thought.... 🙂
 
Doing anything on the basis of post count is not a good idea. Let those members who have been here the longest and participated regularly enjoy themselves. Linking anything to post count is a recipe for spamming and might set a bad precedent. My opinion.
 
Instead of this, something that would benefit all the users of the forum, and would increase popularity too? Something that you earlier left out becuase it just wasn't worth spending money on, but now could be a good feature to add, and will make people on the forum happier? Just an idea, maybe nothing fits into the category.

I agree to what u said, that rewarding the Top 10 would not be a great idea (bec they will surely stay, irrespective of freebies etc.............), but instead selecting from a larger pool of members would give everyone the sense of "importance" and motivate them to participate and contribute more!

P.S: Nothing against the Top-10, they are undoubtedly the BEST here, no one can beat their knowledge! :thumb:
 
so nothing got decided once again 😛someone needs to come up with a Duckworth-Lewis formula please!
