I like this player on Linux. Better than VLCPlayer IMO. 😀
SMPlayer is a new multimedia player, it uses the award-winning MPlayer as engine, so it's able to play the most known video & audio formats without the need of external codecs.
^yes...coz now lots of files are coming with .mkv extension and this codec pack is required to play those files...so u better have it beforehand than later figuring it out how to play those files... 😀
there are basically a couple things to consider to play certain types of videos:
[*]does your OS have the necessary A/V codecs
[*]is your player able to use the installed A/V codecs
[/list]that said, even Microsoft Media Player would be able to play almost all video types given that a comprehensive codec pack is installed.
for the case of k-lite codec pack, it is one of the best/complete out there, and it also comes with a player called Media Player Classic. the player, as the name implies, looks like the previous version of Microsoft Media Player. that is, it only has a conveniently few buttons. but when installed with the codecs that comes with the pack, it will play almost any video type 🙂
^right!but when i download the mkv files through vuze, i can play them only in vuze...can't play them in the old media player or the other player independently that comes with the K-lite pack...wonder what's wrong...
