Hi. I have Hathway (Cable, Docsis 3.0) and Airtel Broadband

My Airtel gives me better speed on Torrents as compared to Hathway.

Hathway on Speedtest is 45 MBPS and Airtel is 16 MBPS

But then also, Hathway gives very poor like 100 KB/s where Airtel gives 1.5 MB/s to 1.8 MB/s

Same trackers, Same peers, Same Seeds, Same everything.

Why is that so?

@gambit if you could answer?

Try optimize utorrent except for disable upnp port mapping and net.max_halfopen.
Time Pass: How to increase utorrent download speed upto 10mbps
also try SpeedGuide.net :: TCP Optimizer / Downloads
If you are using Technicolor cable modem, that may be the cause of problem because buggy firmware from Technicolor.

@gambit Yes, I am using techincolor cable modem. How can I get it replaced with better one or any solution?

Please recommend.

Have hathway change it to another company.
Which other company do you recommend from Hathway to ask?

I'll ask them that particular company or tell me something.

@gambit any other company would have option to change primary and secondary DNS as well?

Because in techincolor we cannot change DNS. (If you can, then please tell).

Which ISP do you use and which modem you have for it?

If you want to change DNS just change it in Ethernet properties.

How about the Android or any other wireless device?

DHCP can also pass the DNS so that it's used by default.

So any modem you could name?

I have also have been getting slow speeds on torrents for Hathway recently. I have been using hathway for 3 months now and now for the last couple of weeks the torrents do not download, utorrent doesn't show any speed.

I tried Gambit's recommendations and optimized utorrent and also changed DNS to google DNS, but it doesn't help. I called Hathway customer service and they said that they don't have any peering arrangements for torrents so the torrents will not work now and they don't know when that will be rectified.

Does anyone know if there is any solution to this? Should I just wait it out. I will have to renew next week and I am wondering if I should renew.
My location is Kolkata (Salt Lake area), any other information needed please ask.

Thanks for any help.

This issue has nothing to do with technicolor modem. My torrents were working fine for 1st 10 days after getting a new hathway connection with same technicolor modem but now I am also facing the same issue.Just check the DHT in bottom status bar of uTorrent & you will see no. of nodes shown as Zero. The same system with same uTorrent settings shows at least 300 nodes when connected to another wifi network of a different isp.It seems that hathway is blocking/restricting certain ports resulting in failure of DHT network which affects speeds of torrents.

Yes it seems that Hathway is blocking torrents. I have the Hathway guy coming tomorrow to collect payment. I will ask him to call support and resolve it there and then otherwise I am going to leave Hathway.

ZBigZ is to slow to really be useful.
