Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) Calling on Reliance Jio?

Current TRAI doesn't allows it. Acc to last update all operators except Jio oppose it.

Man, this sucks :-( . When will they grow up and come out of their primitive inhibitions and embrace new technology ?

Looks like VoWifi/Wifi calling is approved by DOT. We can expect this functionality from Telcos soon.

Jio should be the first to launch on Pixel phones as they already did the testing last year but somehow didn't make it to the final stages. This should be a big relief for people with weak coverage.

Anyone using jio on iPhone received this sms to update software on phone by going to general update software to enjoy seamless jio service.
Though nothing has happened.
Hopefully they are working on VoWIFI.

What was the exact sms ? Can you share the details ?

I am on Jio sim on iPhone X running iOS 11.4.1 , and I also have Jio Gigafiber at home. I enabled airplane mode and wifi, and tried calling over wifi, but it still says "disable airplane mode.

Connected to WiFi but it still wants me to connect. Not sure how this works. lol

They need to allow all wifi access irrespective of whether it is public, private or Jio in house for the real success of wifi calling in India. Few days back i received a call from Jio to enquire about my interest to host a wifi tower. On being hesitant due to harmful waves, the caller said, they just require 12x12 space on the roof and it is just a small tower unlike the mobile towers and would only be used to beam WiFI. It would run on solar electricity backup and won't even need the generator. The rent quoted would be between 45K - 50K depending upon the site location and an additional job for a guard would also be offered. To sum up, they have plans to make WIFI calling & internet access easily accessible to compensate for the weak LTE signals

I fail to understand how will Wifi @2.4Ghz/ 5Ghz be effective when LTE @850Mhz fails....
