Buffering and packet loss on Excitel Broadband

What I've also noted that YouTube would easily load videos without buffering on 1440p due to their peering. Hence, this peering thing is somewhat leading to violation of net neutrality.
Also organic torrents speeds have been dropped to measely 200kpbs. If Excitel's server is ready to seed that specific torrent, I'll get speeds not more than 1.8MB/s. It is clearly proved that they have too much optimized their peering network without giving any concern to organic traffic. Thereby saving bandwidth and almost charging an amount of money for organic traffic instead you get their over protected bubble network of what they call peering.

Huge cheating out here!

Netflix and Twitch.tv all 100% packets lost during ping done by their technician from anydesk. They told me, they've escalated the issue as there must be some problem from their backend.
 
do not waste your time and money. this isp is only good for downloads because of no fup and if u cant even download properly then i would suggest you to change your isp.
trust me , i have tried a lot on packet loss issue , netflix , twitch bufferings etc. they just dont get it. your packet loss will not be fixed until they move to pure ftth . forget about bufferings. i doubt it will ever get fixed.
the thing is in my area its just excitel and 1 more local isp that gives 5 mbps for 1k rs. this is the only reason why i am still with them otherwise i would have changed isps months ago. its just not worth all the headache
 
When I had excitel, it was being routed to LCO->Excitel->peering/provider. I seems you connection only having 1 hop to external so possible LCO giving you net? Someone more knowledgeable should see..


The loss after 10.1.96.1 is the only thing you isp can control, rest is up with Tata. I guess there should be some problem with Tata since many are complaining. I had some problem with Rcom but it was only in foreign servers. But I don't understand why there isn't loss travelling to Tata in google.co.in, maybe by chance.

Also, I'm getting request timeouts with MTNL but there no loss with ping(in Windows)

Also strange that Excitel.com is being hosted in Bulgaria. Maybe you should check a direct ip? Also don't think netflix peering should mean their site is peered.

Yes, maybe Hathway or other fupped is better choice for 1k+ since you want the net to run whenever you use. I hope MTNL too raise their speed where they have high attainable rate.

@ngrhd for imgur are you uploading image as guest ?

try logging in I think imgur has some weird issue with all isp that use double NAT setup,

they mark certain ip as spammer which won't be visible to you but their support can check that

can you do multiple tracert to youtube.com also ping constantly for 10 mins (to confirm problem is with lco)

and try streaming twitch at early morning or when traffic would be less may be the problem is they oversell non-peer bandwidth

I think switch on 10.200.200.1 is configured to respond to traffic that is on peered network as it responded to google and in all reports latency to 4th hop 14.141.116.229 is quite low constantly

P.S. - I am not even a Excitel customer just trying to learn about packet loss and stuff.
 

So packet loss in some places is normal.. I thing doing ping -t might be better measure of packet loss itself. Also as I said traffic seems to be going directly from LCO to Tata and packet loss happening after that. I guess someone with Excitel can confirm if packet travels to Excitel server before going to provider nowadays..

that said if there is problem in Tata it should be happening in other LCO networks too. I checked that Tata IP in a lookup tool and it gave average speed of 2mbit/10mbit though..
 
yeah ping to an ip would reveal packet loss

I think problem is excitel is over selling their bandwidth thats why I suggested to try streaming twitch at early morning when traffic should be low.

Latency becomes an issue for online gaming for other stuff it won't matter much, unless it is super horrible.

Earlier my local ISP was providing a fttn connection (fibre to local guy then cat5e) 5 mbps connection and streaming facebook, twitch was horrible imgur gif would take time to load, now recently my local guy got another uplink from a different company it is wireless based (there is only one bigass antenna on a big ass tower at local guy setup) my plan is same 5 mbps but streaming anything is super smooth specially fb videos even at 1080 p. (with wireless setup connection latency increased a lot compared to fttn )

* * * do not always mean packet loss problem with network , some devices are configured to drop ICMP (ping/tracert) traffic or not prioritize it which causes high latency it is done to prevent DOS attacks.

Even in your home router check for security section > Dos protection > Ignore ping like these

Which IP should I ping to check the packet loss? I am pinging 8.8.8.8 but Excitel guys are asking to ping gateway IP.
 
so how is excitel treating you guys today? getting a lot of packet loss for the last 2 hours. little better now.
 
Pretty good for me here, tried pinging google public dns about 600 times and got 0 packed loss, same for Amazon.in(200 times)
Its not just at any specific time, I get the same result throughout the day and speeds are consistent as well(95 Mbps up and down)

I did a ping test after quite a while, 5-6 months ago when I got the connection packet loss was 3-4%
 
@Rehan Kumar after looking at your post i realized that its been since i checked my ping or packet loss thing and finally its gone.
its great finally they have fixed packet loss thing.
