Just as the title says, need to buy a budget smartphone under Rs. 8000. Max limit is 8K, maybe 100 or 200 up is ok.

Needed:
1. Avg battery life, I mostly browse and listen to music.
2. 4G is a must

Don't care:
1. Screen size and display quality .. my requirement qualification is potato
2. Camera quality
3. Music though loudspeaker

- Nothing Intex, Xolo, Micromax, Karbonn please

hmm.. I'll add more stuff if I remember.

If looking for LTE FDD Band 5... then as said above... Redmi3s/ prime...

If you do not need band 5.. then you can also check out Honor Holly 2 plus....

good battery and overall better quality as compared to Redmi....
Cons.... updates are not their for EMUI..and it doesn't have finger print sensor..

Thanks I'll check review for Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3S, I'm really tight on a budget so can't increase it and go for Prime version of 3S.

@ijsa
Just checked Moto E3 Power supports more bands than 3S. Also Holly 2 Plus is OOS was looking to buy it.

Initial impression of E3 Power is that its underpowered I wounder if it could handle multitasking and multiple tabs on chrome. Redmi 3S looks ok will have to see more.

If you can, try to get used Redmi note 3 used 3gb version on olx/quikr. Its selling around 8 k mark for the 3gb one.

or wait till mid jan when note 4 launches. Then you'll see loads of note 3's in the second hand market.

samsung on5/on5 pro/ on7 / on7 pro/ j2/ j5. Whichever your budget allows. Best 4G phone if you plan to use with jio 4G .

Personal exp. Day & night difference when using same jio sim on Redmi 2 prime vs on5.
plus samsung in pushing updates like never before. s-bike mode , vowifi are added recently.

Moto E3 Power has some bad points

1. Selfie camera not among the best. Selfies are not sharp

2. No gallery app

3. No email app

Thing with samsung low end and mid range phones is they tend to lag horribly few months down the line. Yes, even new models too.
Which was last samsung model you used? I am saying the recent samsung series in last 1-1.5 years has been good. Samsung pushing updates and phone certainly doesn't lag for avg user. Not for a gamer for sure I agree.
However his only priority is listening music and 4G.

no. Even I thought new touchwhiz is good but it definitely lags. I recommened J2 for an uncle last year whoo wouldn't touch "chinese" brands and he complains it lags whenever he visits. there's micro stutters all over the place on touchwhiz
