Cherrinet Fiber Broadband Review

Website: Cherrinet

Plans:

My Plan: Basic 200 Mbps (symmetric) 2 TB. It is prepaid and the rental is Rs. 1768 per month including taxes. They also offer 6 months+1 free and 12 months+2 free if you're looking for longer validity. Static IP is available at Rs. 5000 a year.

Got my connection up and running on the same day I paid. The fiber cable terminates at your premises on a ZTE ONU. Connection is reliable and the speeds are consistent.

Conclusion:
I'm very satisfied with my Cherrinet connection. I highly recommend them if you are thinking about getting a connection. I don't suggest going for the longer validity plans given they update them frequently. You won't be able to change it till the subscription ends. Also make sure they put you on Airtel Transit. My speeds were all over the place when I was on Tata.

Pros:
  • Great speeds.
  • Less Downtimes.
Cons:
  • Overhead cabling.
  • You don't have the option to change your plan till it's validity expires.
  • Their Tata transit sucks to the core.

Let me know in the comments if you want me to test anything.

Edit: Updated on 30/12/16

I have Glasswire and Bitmeter OS to track the usage. My router also has inbuilt traffic meter. I'm just waiting for my LCO to launch his FUP free broadband service. 20 Mbps truly unlimited for just ₹1500 per month. My usage is not astronomically high, it's just I don't want to worry about FUP when I'm already paying a premium.

Oh Thanks dude.. That does help!

I am near kasimedu.near esso bus stop.

Where do you live exactly in Royapuram?

Anyone feel that data consumed in Cherrinet is way higher than your last broadband? I feel the data gets exhausted faster in cherrinet than in my old BSNL connection.

@manojrk : Does Cherrinet oblige to competition by giving higher data for same price, if there is a matching competition?. Just asking, if they make any attempt to retain their customers by giving higher data like airtel?

I don't think so. The plans listed in their website are the only ones they offer. I like this more than dealing with Airtel's hundreds of hidden plans.

Cherrinet offered fiber at our apartment complex, so I snapped it up 🙂

Getting 200Mbps on Speedtest to local and SGP servers. Oddly, speeds on Fast.com are only 11~20 Mbps.

Are they really separately measuring Down + Up data limits? Their interface doesn't seem to indicate so. For some reason it's not showing more than 2 days, so not sure either. Their user portal definitely needs work.

Yeah fast.com speeds are bummer but I'm able to run two simultaneous HD streams (7500 Kbps) with no probs.

I can also confirm they measure downloads and uploads separately like ACT.

Hmm, I'm still getting connected to Singapore servers but no issues overall.

My LCO is giving bs reasons lately for the delay. He is also claiming that he and bunch of other LCOs had applied for Jio Fiber. I'm starting to think TIC might not be any different than Spectranet or Limras, covering only few areas.

Seeing packet loss to steam/valve servers.
Did a tracert and looks like it's dropping on the Tata side of the network. Cherrinet seem keen to fix the issue, however they are understandably confused since their network looks alright.

As per the NOC staff their contract with Tata is coming to an end in few weeks and they are going to buy bandwidth only from Airtel after that. Never faced such issues when on Airtel transit.

Hello!! Is there any discount or additional months free for people making the payment in bulk(like 3, 6 or 12 months) in Cherrinet? Thanks!!

@trammat Same as I mentioned in OP. You get 1 month free for the 6 months pack or 2 months free for 12 Months. If you're think about getting it better go for the 6 months one.

you can start with 3 month pack to waive off registration charges and then do monthly, given Cherri's frequent plan revisions it doesn't make any sense to tie yourself with 6/12 month plans and also they are very lazy in refunds.
