Excitel Broadband User Experience in Gurgaon

It is only for this reason.... I moved to Triple Play..... but even Triple Play is not fail safe.... has other issues....

Excitel knows about this issues and acknowledges it... but won't solve it....

every ISP as some or other issues, especially with power users as far as i have seen. there is an isp called powernet in dwarka, my friend has it, and it was great, didn't got any issues with it for 2 days of testing time, nt sure if they are available in gurgaon or not.

here is a speedtest graph of the last couple of days. the dips show when the network craps out. but overall upload speeds remains upwards of 20mbps through the day.

i should add here that pi does not have enough resources to accurately measure speedtests. upload speeds almost always appear lower than speedtest's own app so I am not showing upload speeds on the graph.

data related to pings is probably more useful. but pi again does not measure it properly so not including that as well.

here is the graph for last twenty tests.

so it came back online after 2 hours. guy confirmed on call that they have fixed the issue. damaged hardware and such. and since that call, it has gone down twice. looks like it would stay unreliable through the night and i would need to make calls again in the morning.

luckily for me here in delhi, it was working while rainfall and its still working. Actually as you know its been only a couple days since a got this connection and so far its been pretty stable for me, haven't noticed a single downtime yet.

local guys said that one of their customers has been messing around with their network. i can only imagine that some asshole is using their ethernet cable to fry their networking hardware.

connection is still down. local guys were working at the pole in front of my house at around 10. does not look like it would be fixed tonight. these are the days when i wonder if i should upgrade my airtel adsl to vdsl so that i can at least use the internet properly when excitel is down. because airtel is horrible at 4mbps because of my crappy local cabling 😀

i have a shitty 4mbps adsl airtel for backup. considering getting it upgraded to vdsl so that i can at least get 16mbps. at 4mbps, the connection conks out with even a minor upload because of massive packet loss. i have only been keeping airtel because of landline which i do not want to lose. otherwise i would have taken den boomband as backup 😛

packet loss today is unbelievable. and it is likely to get worse.

should really look into den boomband. still have 20 days on excitel.

for me its still same old 3% packet loss. BTW instead of den boomband i would recommend you going for siti broadband as they also offer true unlimited plans and also their service was much better for me compared to what i got from den boomband. I have been using siti broadband from past 4-5 months and so far i only had one single downtime but on the other hand when i was using den boomband it was like i be calling them every other week or two to fix my connection and most irritating of all was that den boomband had a habit of dieing on me at night and coming back up in the moring.
