Airtel has announced that it will offer iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus through retail shops and online starting today. It offers iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users 10 GB free 4G/3G data per month for one year with any Airtel Infinity postpaid plan, in addition to plan benefits. So, over the duration of one year these users get additional 120 GB 4G/3G data.

Airtel Infinity postpaid plans offer unlimited voice calling – local, STD, and on national roaming – along with bundled 4G/3G data, SMS and free subscription to Wynk Music and Wynk Movies. The 1999, 2499 and 2999 plans with iPhone 7 or 7 Plus offer 5GB, 10GB and 15GB free data, respectively.

Contract Pricing if you buy the phone with any infinity plan.

Airtel offers iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus in India starting at Rs. 19990 with 12-month contract

whats balloon payment? 😛

Can I get rid of the contract by unlocking the phone and dumping airtel after I got the phone for 19990

@Ouch Balloon payment is the balance payment you need to make in case you want to keep the device permanently after 12 months. Or you can return the phone to Airtel and get the next iPhone version after 12 months.

Detailed TOC available from Airtel's website.

so it's a lease. i guess still a good offer for folks who upgrade every year anyways.

Lol just realised. There are like only 4 stores in the country where this offer is available. lol 1 in Noida and 3 in Hyderabad. And I don't see Airtel selling it online.

well i guess this offer cannot be offered everywhere. i wonder what kind of safety measures they take. credit rating? post dated cheques? lol. i mean airtel and vodafone offered something similar on earlier models too so it is clear that it works which is why they have it again on the latest iPhone.

They have tied up with Bajaj Finance. So proper checks should be in place.

18. What documents do I need to sign up for this plan?
You will first be required to sign up for a loan with BFL, for BFL to determine your eligibility, by submitting the following documents to BFL:

  • 1. ID proof
  • 2. Address proof of current residence
  • 3. Cancelled cheque
  • 4. Income proof by way of 2 bank statements and 2 months’ salary slip
Once your loan gets approved, you will need to sign up for an Airtel postpaid plan for which the following documents will be required:

  • a. Photograph
  • b. Proof of identity
  • c. Address proof of current residence
  • d. Cancelled cheque
19. Is ECS mandatory for sign up?
Yes, ECS is mandatory under this offer. You will be required to sign one ECS mandate with Airtel and one ECS mandate with BFL.

If Idea offered such plan, I may have gone for it.

So at the end of 12 months if we want to keep the device the total amount would be like 68k. Why not just buy the damn thing on EMI

because some people like to upgrade every year and this gives them a fairly reasonably priced way to get the latest model every year.
