Router Configuration for SIFY Connection

I have two desktops and a laptop at home, all of which are networked via a D-Link 614+ router. Earlier I could use one SIFY account/user ID to connect any of the three machines to the net.However, from the time SIFY copulated an account/user ID with MAC address, I have not been able to find a way to use the net from my two other machines at home. Does anyone know a way around this? Hopefully there are some amongst you who have the same issue, and have found a way to crack the SIFY highhandedness by tinkering with your router configuration or some other trick. If so, I'd look forward to a word from you.Any help will be deeply appreciated.Thanks.

the only way out is proxy server...

first, check your router config for a section on "cloning mac address".You will need to connect from the machine for which the Sify BB works. When connected to the router, go to the cloning mac id config page and click on "Clone MAC address"now install sify clients to all the machines, and connect as usual.

Thanks, Suraj, and Coolbuddy, for the suggestions. Suraj, I have already cloned the MAC address in the router, and the SIFY client is also installed on all the machines. Nonetheless, I can connect to the net only from the main machine, even though all the three machines are on the home network, and that network works fine.

Coolbuddy, would it be possible for you to provide a more detailed account of your suggestion?

well what cool buddy means by a proxy server is thatu set up a machine as a proxy server u connect this machine to sify network by that cto lan and create another local home network and access internet on other computers through this machine.means u won't need bbclient on ur laptop or other computers.bbclient would access sify on the proxy server and others machine would just connect to the proxy server via lan and browse internetEdit: how to setup proxy server(i think)I think right now u would have setup ur router like thisthe cable coming to ur house from the CTO would be going to the router and from the router u would be having connections to ur desktops and laptopto create a proxy server setup. first get a proxy server software. then i think u will be needing another lan card for the proxy server. i think the setup would be like this the cable coming from the CTO would be going to the machine u choose to be the server on first lan card and then u would create a home network on the second lan card. here u will connect this second card to the router and other computersand now whenevr u wanna access internet from other computers u gonna need this proxy server up and running. and broadband client connected to sify on this proxy server machine

ya man don't know abt others but i can help u setup the proxy server and i think man u can do this without the proxy serveruse easy sify and use the option in it that says force mac address and in the mac address field enter the mac address of the card of the machine on which u can access sifyi think this should work

Also do you have NAT enabled on the router and have assigned to it the ip address given to you by your CTO ?

Yes, the D-Link router has the option of filling in a "static" IP address, and I have put in all that over there.

What u can do is login from the one (original) comp, to which MAC is bound (u still have to clone the MAC address) and then switch it off and use the otheres as u wish.Or use one of the alternative clients.

I have a D-Link 714P+ and am using 2 pcs and a laptop to connect to sify. PCs are wired and Laptop is wireless. You only need to clone the mac id and thats takes care of all. when the authentication happens sify checks for the WAN interface mac address.have you enabled dhcp or are using static ips?

Suraj, my machines are the same as yours: two wired desktops and one wireless laptop. The MAC ID is cloned in the WAN section of router settings.

DHCP server is enabled, and static DHCP is disabled. And I am using the static IP option, having filled in all the IP address, gateway options etc. (I couldn't get my connection to work at all without enabling the DHCP server; and yes, I have already looked at your wonderfully illustrated router configuration file, thanks for all that lucidly illustrated work).

And, Gaurav, Easy Sify doesn't seem to work on my machines: I have tired both version 1 and 2, without success. Version two gives me an "invalid session id" each time I try to connect.

Looking forward to some more brainstorming on this.

I cant imagine how Sify would allow that, this would just encourage misuse of other's account ie 2 or more people can use the same username password and buy a common package and use em all at the same time. I think if more than 1 instances of the same username appear on Sify's servers, one of them will be booted, but then again its Sify we are talking about hehe

Something weird: at the moment I seem to able to connect from all my computers, and that too without the Sify client! Looks like my only problem was that I was using sify's client ;-)Actually, looks like something is the matter somewhere.
