Currently, we are paying around Rs.3500 (after taxes) for our 40 Mbps 500 GB Fiber plan, which is insane now that Cherrinet is offering 250 GB at 200 Mbps for just Rs.1499 plus taxes. I'd gladly take 250 GB at 200 Mbps over the Airtel plan.

Like the users mentioned in the previous posts, I'm planning to call 'retentions' department. For the people that have called in already what are they offering as compensation? And what should one ask for?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 🙂

i wonder if they would offer a 50% discount on a 3500 rupee plan!

I'm on the same plan as @riser. I tried speaking to their retention guys and they offered Rs. 300 waiver and 100GB zero rental Top up. Now that Cherrinet/ACT has once again upgraded their plans for second time in the last four months to 200 Mbps, Airtel's speeds and plans are looking way outdated. Airtel doesn't bother to match their plans because they saw an influx in customer acquisition post Vardah and they are always reluctant to upgrade their plans frequently. Cherrinet turned out to be way more reliable than I anticipated. I probably might give up my Airtel backup if they don't offer a matching plan soon.

Question : How long should it take for the modem to connect on VDSL? I've noticed mine takes about 3 mins, but I'm quite sure my earlier ADSL modem would be connected in say 30 secs at most.

Sync time depends on a lot of factors, the key thing is once it syncs it should remain synced, no need to look into it any deeper.

What should be ideal distance from dp box / node (blue box)to get full speed.

100-150 meter good ?

~300 meters loop length here. I'm syncing at full speeds on Profile 17a (105 Mbps - 115 Mbps Downstream, 20 Mbps - 23 Mbps Upstream). Physical lines should be of good quality and properly shielded to achieve full speeds.

I heard from my local service engineer that they are testing 100 Mbps on VDSL. If everything goes well they are going to launch new plans by end of this month.

Don't know about speeds. But they definitely changed FUP.
It was 1999rs - 160gb
Now its 250 gb (according to local advertisement)

When i checked site no plans above 1199rs.

Plans are updated for Chennai. 100 Mbps is available now. I guess the engineer was right after all.
  • Rs. 999 - 100GB - 40 Mbps
  • Rs. 1099 - 130GB - 40 Mbps
  • Rs. 1299 - 175GB - 40 Mbps
  • Rs. 1499 - 225GB - 100 Mbps
  • Rs. 1999 - 350GB - 100 Mbps
No change in post FUP speeds. 512 Kbps smh. 100 Mbps to 512 Kbps is a sick joke lol.

I wonder if they are finally ready with even 40 mbps at my place.. I am paying 1099 for 90 GB @ 8 mbps...

look around for vfiber posters. i only get to know after seeing one. confirmed with an airtel guy who was fixing connection at someone's house. still 16mbps though.

in any case, get the plan changed to get more data.

lol .. 40 mbps posters have been at the gate itself for months now atleast from october... But whenever I agreed to update (after 1000 for modem) they will later call me & say they are upgrading & that I will get 16 mbps and in future will get 40. In Jan after Vardah when the connection was down for a month - I said I dont want to hear from Airtel unless you are ready to upgrade to 40 mbps from the day you do the ugrade otherwise I will cancel connection...Havent heard from them since - not that I expect a call - as mostly likely I have been marked as a do not solicit customer...
