I read it so many time. Indians refer to phone's battery life as "Battery backup"
The phone's battery is a primary battery. It is not a backup. Battery backup can be your powerbank.

Western media writes correctly. You never hear them say "The phone has excellent battery backup."

Read comments on Indian phone reviews and you get
Iska battery backup kaisa hai mere bahi
Battery backup theek hai?
Phone toh achha hai par iska battery backup ka kya scene hai?
battery backup battery backup pak pakk pakakak pak backup!!

At least we don't say "battery kitna deti hai" 😛

Thats so racist 😛

Racist? Its more of a regional thing. And how can one be racist with one's own race 😀

I am saying its probably a trait in only certain parts of the country & not the whole country itself.

I am assuming that you are unaware of the point that I am from Chennai.... And I meant its not a thing used in my place around here...

battery in phones are no doubted primary battery but it's not an unlimited source of power it has some limitations of power and usually it's called backup due to the fact its a battery and have a limited capacity.

Backup also can be referred to as the phone can be plugged into A.C and can be used but it's not advised to do so. anyways.. it can be used with a charger connected but it's not , the charger is connected to charge the battery and its the batter's backup power which is used for long as you can't plug the mobile in charger and travel 😛

P.S Just a theory why its called battery backup.
