How to lock your Aadhaar Biometric Details?

Why are you guys diverting to JIO discussion here? 🙄

I mentioned JIO because thats the only place where I used fingerprints first time for verification.

And I am talking / asking about biometric adhar verification not JIO!

My OT question was kind of "frustration" not actually a question! I already know I can use someone else's aadhar!

OT and PS: Got JIO SIM finally! Finger of cousin worked!! 😛 (2nd Jio sim)

Ok. Finally, I was able to get a Jio sim. Until I went ahead and unlocked biometric , which wasted a lot of time, as UIDAI site was not opening for hours. So, does look like biometric lock prevents usage ?
 
I cudnt test it. Since I had 2 Jio cards ... I didnt bother to check after unlocking biometrics.

But its good if we have ability to block it. As it prevents misuse.
 
They have now officially put on their website that:

"If you LOCK your biometric... ur fingerprint and iris authentication will not work."

This is actually nice feature.

They have now also introduced new feature of TEMPORARY unlock.

This lasts for 20mins and then it gets locked again automatically.

So if you are planning to authenticate somewhere.. unlock it.. give fingerprint. And thats it. It will get locked automatically after a while
 
Their website doesn't work most of the time. I had to wait for two days for website to get back up for unlocking biometrics for getting a Jio SIM.

And even right now, it is not working. It has been a minute since I generated the OTP and it hasn't arrived on my phone.
 

Yep I managed to unlock (for testing) - after abt 2-3 hrs of trying!

20-30 refresh pages!
 
Only LOCK your biometric if you aren't planning on using it for authentication anytime soon. The Lock/unlock process is unreliable as hell. I got locked out because the OTP would never arrive. Their toll free number does not work anymore and their email helpline is horrible. Finally just gave up after a couple of weeks. Tried again a few days ago, OTP came and I unlocked the damn thing and left it at that.
 
mAadhaar has an internal option to lock biometric on aadhaar. they do admit that it might take them 6 hours to actually do it through the system.
 
November means dad has to go to the SBI branch for life certification. Maadhaar app as expected is not processing requests. Cheers all around.

App unlocks the biometric data for six hours? Or it takes it six hours to unlock? I would need to unlock it in such a way that it stays unlocked till the job is done.
 
It unlocks just for 20minutes. And relocks it.

So only option you have is "disable" locking (which is permanent till u lock it again) at beginning of the day when you plan the activity. And lock it again when done.

Just tried it at 5:24PM

And here is the message after unlocking temporarily

Your Biometrics is unlocked now and would get locked automatically at 15-Nov-2017 05:34 PM
 
Website has 2 options

1) Unlock (which is for 10mins)
2) Disable (which is till u lock it again)
