Finally I 've become one of the broadband user. 😀
After waiting for 3 and 1/2 months, I finally got ADSL connection.
Two days ago the MTNL guys called me up and gave me the DSL kit explaining all the connections needed.
I ve a problem though with the configuration..but the today the MTNL guys came up, rectified the error and got me connected.
The problem was tht I had two phone on the same line. You 've to connect the other phone through the splitter in parallel.
I m getting speeds of max 22-23 KBps for the peak time...I think the speed at night will be more.I m going to check tht.
I checked the speed at http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
If there are other sites please reccommend me.
Thanks
😉

Make sure to check that you are synced at 256/256 dl/uk..yesterday I was experimenting and was using a longer phone cord (the phone outlet and pc are a little far)..my sync rate dropped to 160/224 or 192/224kbps...am back using a smaller cord and sync is back to 256/256..I got the D-Link router..you can check the sync under Tools and ADSL........192.168.1.1 user=admin pass=admin

here are mine... 😀SNR Margin - 31/27 dBLine Attenuation - 17/9 dBData Rate - 288/256 kbpsand yes, last night the speed burst took me to around 50 kBps 😀 though it was hardly for a couple of secs 🙁 but it was stable around 33-35 kBps for a while...hope it happens quite often 😉

Oh I was not awake late at night and couldn't check the speed.BTW, I was getting a download speed of 32-35KBps using download manager(LeechGet2004). I think thts pretty good.Thank you Abdul for the link. Tht was pretty detailed explainationShrithikar, the link is giving me Invalid hostname message.Hey muttster, thnks for tht sync info. Here is wht the status is: SNR margin: 21/21 Line att : 47/31 Data rate : 256/256But wht do these signify, huh??And I c IPaddress is different for LAN and WAN.So which one is my IP add??I found tht you can also set Firewall in the Advanced section. I believe it must be a hardware firewall. Are these enabled on ur routers??Is it possible to check my usage on the net?Thank you coolbuddy for the link and for help. 😉
