The BSNL authorities have noticed the recent slowdown in Dataone speed. They are adding one more STM1 Link at Chennai gateway.Hope things will be better soon.

how did u knowdo u have any link ..post it so we can readthanx

It was decided in the CGM's meeting last week on broadband. There is no corresponding link in the BSNL site.

Dude, Somjit, if you know someone at BSNL please get the message across that we need better download limits! For example:Home 500 - 256 kbps - 5 GB transfer (upload/download) limitHome 1800 - 512 kbps - 15 GB transfer (upload/download) limit, and,Home 3300 - 1 mbps - 30 GB transfer (upload/download) limit.Maybe also introduce some Night and/or Weekend unlimited plans? At the same prices I think this is quite reasonable...think about it... the Home 3300 plan is almost as expensive as my house rent! LOL.If you want a real-world example of a trend-setter can do, take a look at what Google did with G-Mail....They just dropped a bomb by introducing a 1 GB storage quota when the rest were offering only a few MBs and excuses that they have millions of customers and not enough storage capacity...Now I use my storage on my other e-mail site (Yahoo and Hotmail) mainly for collecting junk mails...

well vishal, don't u think that with those speeds, the corresponding limits are a bit too less??? 🤔i'll be happy with those prices and speeds only if they're all "unlimited" 😀

Yes, coolbuddy, even the limits I mentioned are less, but *for the time being* it's r e a s o n a b l e 😎 for both the consumer and the ISP (again, FOR NOW)Let some competition come into the market... then it should get better... hopefully heheI wouldn't mind paying around Rs 3000 per month for a 1 mbps with say, a 50 GB download limit... if it was unlimited, the leeches could download about 300 GB per month on that speed and bankrupt BSNL (if it's possible to bankrupt them at all 😎As a comparison example, in the US, which is really a second-class country for broadband compared to the likes of europe, korea, japan, people pay $35 for 4mbps down/384kbps up... $35 is like, about 3% of the house rent they pay... or about 1% (or less) of their monthly salary...Now over here, Rs. 3000 is what? about 50-75% of your house rent? or 5-15% of your salary?BOOHOO I want to shoot myself

better, go and settle in one of those countries 😀i'm also planning to move to Canada in a year or so...let's see if it materializes 🙂

Oh Canada! The Royal Mounted Police? aka "Mounties"? hehehe

We should get unlimited plans during night and/ or weekend including national holidays. If chennai gets additional STM..Does the download improves???Bcos modem is capable of downloading upto 2MBps..🙂

The STM1 link I mentioned here will be used for connecting Calcutta Telephones to the Chennai Gateway. So users at Calcutta Telephones will get better speed. The speed problem is due to the fact that number of users increasing, but the links (connecting Calcutta Node of NIB to Chennai) remained same. They are just adding one more link from Calcutta Node of NIB to Chennai. That link is a STM1.

There was slowdown in all modes of internet thru BSNL and few other ISPs 10-15 days back which took few days to resolve.BSNL has taken it up on war fotting and shall add the said Link at Chennai.
