do ldd on executable that u run and check which version of libssl it wants and if u have the same.

problem resolved by creating links from the 0.9.8 version which ships with Hardy. I would like to know if the client works stable or are there frequent disconnects ?

The Sify official client is horrible. Frequent disconnects. I just cant keep the connection on for continous downloads. Becomes a full time baby sitting job.

Anyway moved over to supersify now.

Supersify Just rocks !! The connection simply refuses to disconnect now until I choose to do so 🙂

I have a 256 unlimited connection. With my torrent client running 24x7, I am really squeezing the juice with my downloads.

Hey the procedure that is told above is absolutely outdated
The new way is

First download sifyclient other dependencies from http://202.144.65.70:8090/.

You need to have alien before hand

TO download alien type "sudo apt-get install alien"

Then by alien convert the rpm packages into deb

Download the tar.gz file form http://202.144.65.70:8090/

then go to terminal

type tar -xvf sify_bbclient-3.0.tar

go to terminal

there navigate to the folder to which it is extracted
For instance you have done it on the Desktop

Then

open terminal

Type
1) "cd Desktop"
2) "cd sify_bbclient-3.0"
3) "sudo ./install.sh"

This will install the client

Then type in "sifyconnect"

and this will start the sify client

Hi,

I have created a new GUI Dialer which is similar to looks of Windows version.
It is very easy to install as it is *.deb file.
It doesn't have the nonsense, which is present in Sify dialer for linux.

You can try it from the following link.

While trying “sudo sifyconnect” in Ubuntu 9.10 after I installed Sify Client I get this error:##########sifyconnect: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory##########I can’t find libssl.so.4 anywhere and as I am not connected to Internet I can’t download it either. However I’ve got openssl installed.

so why was there a need for supersify? and other alternative clients on windows?

if you want to compare software installation on both linux and windowZ...

compare the installation of installers that are made for these platforms.

ever been in a situation when you could not install an app on windows? because it required service pack 2 or 3? ever failed an installation because .net was not proper version on your machine?

proper installers take into consideration most of the problem scenarios. it was sify's decision not to update their installer for linux. try working with google go language on windows. you cannot because google is not supporting windows with it.

----------

also try installing adobe flash player 64 bit on windows.
