most of the IPs i used to get on my airtel connection were blacklisted. my internal mails were caught as spam my my server's spam assassin...

210.18.11.6 is my SAM, and guess what, its blacklisted too 😀 for spam!Y'know on many IRC networks I found my assigned IP blacklisted (K/D-Lined), just goes to show that sify is rotten to the core...If this is true about Airtel too, I have no idea what indian ISP's are upto ...Do you think sify will agree to provide static IP's? Ahh... who are we talking about...

Nice discovery .SAM IP being blacklisted might not be of direct consequence to us but if we are assigned blacklisted IPs then our e-mails might not reach the recipient intended 🤔

well... the problem is that these companies focus more on irritating the customers with stupid packages rather than controlling malicious activities being done on their connections. sify does not get their IPs blocked. it is the end users especially spammers which use their cheap packages for mass mailing people and get their IPs blocked. their are no decent steps taken by these companies to stop these practices without annoying the genuine customers.

one of my old cable guy actually blocked my IP for sending 100 mails in an hour. the mails were genuine... but i can send a lakh mails through my airtel i doubt it would bother anyone on their customer support team.

I am not surprised. Maybe sify is into bulk mail delivery (spamming)bussiness.

heh. every company in web business does it one way or the other. but here the problem is that they have got such a vast network being managed by illetarate fools who do not know what a freaking firewall is... anyone can buy a cheap package which no matter gives 2 KBps but would still be good enough to send mails 24x7 🙂

We can't say the SAM server IPs were blocked because of Sify users sending spam because no user is assigned the SAM IPs. Rather looks like the Sify SAM servers are poorly secured and and are acting as open relays for spammers all across the globe.

On top of it some IPs assigned to users were blocked because of spamming by Sify users.

maybe sometimes sam server's ip was being pikced up by the other side for picking up the spammer's mail id 😕 not sure... do sify users get individual IPs or all people in one area get a single IP? i think they do get individual IPs... maybe sify people used the spam IPs for their sam servers coz they no longer are useful otherwise... 😛

Yup everyone on Sify gets an individual IP. And nope, the SAM server doesn't figure in the email headers that are checked by anti-spam software, individual IPs do 😉. The individual IPs assigned to us are our public faces to the internet and after that the only IP figuring in a spam email header would be the email service provider's mail server's IP.
