VoLTE on Vodafone India

@itzmynet The call was between Vodafone to vodafone. Both phones were on 4g volte. I know if its through interconnect, it will still route through legacy circuit switched network.
 
@d5aqoëp Thank you so much, this was quite a lot of learning. Maybe they'll upgrade to evs codec later. Do does jio use EVS codec ?
 
It looks like Vodafone Volte has stopped working since yesterday in Mumbai. Call drop is also on an all time high and it randomly gives the error " this number does not exist" when people call me.

I have asked my friends to check, and it is doing the same for them too. Its falling back to 3G on calls.

Dont know whats going on.
 
So I tweeted vodafone about this issue. Someone called me from vodafone and confirmed that there are ongoing issues with volte and he suggested that I switch off volte on my phone to fix call drops :-D
 
Its not just VoLTE -- its Super VoLTE --- unknown territory ... so bound to have problem!! 😀 /s
 
My handset is not VoLTE but still when on 4G network and I make an outgoing call, it turns to 3G network.

And on the other handset which is a VoLTE handset(Redmi 2 Prime) but still not on Vodafone VoLTE compatible handset list, when "only LTE" is selected as preferred network, then there can be neither incoming or outgoing. The person at the other end hears only a busy tone. But data works.

So as already said, they are making some changes in their network.
 

Anyone having Realme 2 phone?

Vodafone website shows that it supports Vodafone VoLTE

But I dont see VoLTE icon.

It shows 4G but not VoLTE. (Although I can make a voice call)

When I insert Jio SIM - it shows both 4G and VoLTE.
 
My father recently got Redmi Note5 pro. It is on compatible list on Vodafone site and they also say that they VoLTE in Delhi but the phone does not show the VoLTE sign.

Please Call Vodafone customer care and formally place the volte activation request. It will be activated in 24 hrs. Vodafone and Idea do not activated automatically once compatible handset used, one has to place formal request..
 
@amish, Many things these incumbents operators never mentioned and does business in shoddy way. This is not new, hence please get used to it. This trend will follow even after getting tight slap from Jio but its dogs tail which will never get straightened...
 
Finally VoLTE icon appeared. It was random. Just noticed it. Dont know when it appeared.
 
No I havent got time to test VoLTE!

I had put it on 3G/2G mode because I was expecting important call and knowing that 4G network was buggy I didnt want to take risk.

I will test this weekend.
 
My exp with Vodafone volte between 2 volte enabled phones is that when you call each other, is that you hear a engaged tone in your earpiece even though it's ringing at the other end. So I went to a Vodafone store & the 'solution' they had was to switch off the LTE slider switch option on both phones & now I can hear the original ringing sound in the earpiece. I was bluntly told their volte service is v problematic.
