I have a couple of friends coming in from abroad, and would like to take them on things like a day trip to Agra (To see Taj Mahal, and other stuff). If anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know who you think the best tour operator is?

So far, I have only found one major one - Rao Travels. Has anyone ever had any good or bad experience with them?

Basically the things that are important are comfort, as well as not being taken for a ride (figuratively) - they should have a proper guide and stop at each place for ample time.

hmm... ok this is not relevant here. but the road to agra is excellent but from the highway to the taj mahal... the experience on traveling by road is pretty sadistic. so be prepared for that 🙂 and their woudl be people sitting their trying to make a fool out of your good friends. so be careful.this is our own india. makes me feel sickening.

Yes the highway from Delhi to Agra is pretty good u can cover the distance in 3 hrs flat and even earlier if u believe in pedal-to-the metal style of driving. The only other thing which i can tell u is that dont go there on a friday coz its closed and no matter how hard u try, the assh...le CISF Idiots posted there will not let u in.

Trust me on this one mate - I have had lot of interaction with them at the various airports across India, and the one at the Taj was the cherry on the cake.

Local police is much better. 🙂

well as long as the taj is safe i guess they are doing a good job. but then laden does not consider india as an enemy so i guess we are lucky. 🙂every department has its share of corrupt officers. i have heard all these bad stories of people ripping foreigners at the Taj. Sucks.

The threat Taj faces is not from the likes of laden. Its from our very own politicians, industrialists etcYes, it sure sucks. Either we completely rip them off or we completely bow down before them. I have seen situations where a foreigner entering a shop has turned other indians in the shop into second class citizens. The Indian mind never got decolonised after all, i guess.

If you are so intent on going by road try DTDC whose offices are in CP good and reliable but I would rather suggest Taj EXpress and enjoy the journey quite a few lodges not bad I have travelled and enjoyed.
