I have a 16mbps connection from Airtel (haven't crossed FUP).... but since last week, the connection is dead slow for random sites (even this forum). However, downloads all work fine, speedtest also works fine.

I suspect it's just a few sites and CDNs (like Amazon Cloudfront from what I see) but its very hard to pinpoint and there's also no packet loss whatsoever.

DSL link does not disconnect, so I'm pretty sure the sync in itself is fine. There was a short packet loss on Friday afternoon to random sites and then this all started.

I tried replacing modem with another TP-Link for a day and it did not make any difference so it's back to this one.

Uptime / Latency completely appears to be normal. Landline has no noise, calls also work fine.

P.S, even imgur took too long to open, but I've always had slowness with imgur for some reason....

same here boss
i registered complaint 2 wk back
engineer visited place and said there was problem with main circuit board (problem in splitter)?
but frm last 4-5 days m facing same problem
im from delhi

i tried replacing modem but no change
ddl and upload speed are fine

problem in browsing , watching youtube

Yep, me too. I'm on 16Mbps plan as well. Some websites takes forever to load but testmynet shows 16Mbps speed and there were no packet loss.

It happens in between for few mins which I resolve via modem reboot . between set the secondary dns to 8.8.8.8. or any open dns. leave primary to airtel.
this way any problem with airtel dns won't keep you down. saying becoz i have noticed airtel dns behaving slow or overloaded. don't know whatever it is. dns change and modem reboot helps.

Good to know I'm not the only one noticing this. BTW I'm from Chennai.

I'm on Google + OpenDNS as backup, I haven't relied on ISP DNS since ages. Have also tried diagnosing and the delay is not caused due to DNS lookup but rather no response and or connection reset. It's hard to point finger towards Airtel as they can blame individual sites. But from looking here, there's definitely something amiss.

Here's a graph of the connection to my particular server (the blank ones at the start are from Friday where there's no connectivity and I had to pause to switch modems to see if there was something wrong with my setup). That's when this all started :

(note: high latency at 1/30+1/31 is caused due to usage, nothing to do with what I'm trying to point out)

Modem : D-Link 2730u
Router : Netgear R7000

I will try to contact Airtel tomorrow with a link to this post, there's likely nothing a service engineer can do from a customer's location......I highly suggest those who're on the same boat to complain as well.

Edit: Here's a likely example of what's happening :

It took the connection 6.57 seconds to download a content worth 4.2 KB. That's the prime reason the page had to wait (taken from Google Chrome on a completely random website).

I have the same problem, I just called the CC and they have promised that the issue will be solved tonight 02-Feb.

maybe some cable repair going on or some internal upgrade.

The rep said there was some service outage in Chennai which should get resolved soon.
