U can convert using alien but where the hell ru supposed to find the solution of dat stupid ssl thing heh? Ru smart enough to fix that heh mr. smartass ?Sify morons will never clearly explain that bs to u.

Works, thanks! But where does the client window vanish after logging in?also it disconnects frequently 🙁 really bad for downloading..any heartbeat tricks anyone?

I will try out this client sometime in a virtual machine 🙂 . Btw is it using the old login system which supersify and other client uses ? or the latest one which current sify broadband windows client is using ?wine + supersify = pwnage 😀

I guess I spoke two soon two posts above..It worked for a while, albeit the frequent disconnects. Now I get a segmentation fault and a core dump. 🙁wine and supersify? time to try that I guess. works with the new protocol?EDIT: nope supersify does not work with the new protocol 🙁 consequently, supersify does not work for me on windows eitherIm really hoping sify works well with linux so I can leave windows behind..

I don't get all these people saying it doesn't work with the new protocol. All you have to do is call up sify and tell them you're using linux and can't login with their client. Then it works. And yes supersify + wine = pwnage

anand, you talk as though speaking to sify customer care is the easiest thing to do! just the other day I called them to ask for a linux client, I was transferred between 5 people in all, with a total waiting time of about 10 minutes, with horrible sounding music on hold too. and the best part, the conversation I had with the last person I spoke to:Me: I need a client for linux, and I need you to enable whatever it is you need to enable for me to dial in from linuxHer: Sir are you a sify-broadband customer?Me: Yes and i'd like a client to log in from linuxHer: Oh yes Sir, so you are a client? What is your log idMe: My id is ****. I would like to use sify broadband on linux pleaseHer: on what?Me: lie-nuxHer: huh?Me: (lemme try a different pronunciation) lee-nux ?Her: You want to use sify on what?Me: Can I talk to a technical person please? Her: Your complaint has been registered and we will have someone call you sirAnyways a day later a dude called me, he had no idea what Ubuntu is, but atleast knew enough about linux to ask me my kernel version. He said they would build the client specifically for my linux distro and would call me within an hour. 3 days and still waiting. 😕

build the client specifically for my linux distro

:ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed:

Well thats what he said. though I cant vouch (yet) for how true that is..EDIT:Oh wait, I just read that again, I think you might have misunderstood. I think he meant re-compile from source or something when he said "build", not quite "build everything from scratch."

Hi Loner Tech Your fix works! .....:thumbsup:I am using Fedora Core 6 :kernel 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6xen and sify client sify_bbclient-3.0.tar.gzsifyconnect: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorySolved by # cd /usr/lib #ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.7 libcrypto.so.4 #ln -s libssl.so.0.9.7 libssl.so.4 #sifyconnect Checking reachability of Sify Server ... : Successchecking whether instance sifyclient already running ... : NOEstablishing sify broadband connection ...and then the login window pops up..Thanks Loner Tech

ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.7 libcrpto.so.4ln -s libssl.so.0.9.7 libssl.so.4 as root ..thats wht this post is about!

Works for me too!! Thanks. The customer care guys have no clue what is Ubuntu or Debian for that matter. They just directed me to the sify client .rpm The sifyconnect worked the very first time. Then the error messages started .
