What will happen to BSNL if Reliance JIO comes with super cheap plans? like 30-40 GB in 700 Rupees

I was wondering what will happen if it becomes reality, how many peoples do you guys think will unsubscribe the 512 Kbps unlimited plan and switch to Reliance JIO?

Most of the 512 Kbps plan users consume 30-40 GB.

Now that call rates are made cheaper so I think they will increase speed of plans and reduce price to compete in the market.

Any approximate of change in speed/price of bsnl plans? They must have planned already.

In my personal opinion, this kind of a plan from Jio is unexpected no matter what the general assumptions are floating around at the moment. Until and unless they release what the actual plans are, none of us will know whether or not its magical, mystical or completely hilarious.

With that said, I definitely expect cheaper plans than what we all currently get - and I'm sure the current competitive telecom players are ready to 'flick' the switch to cheaper plans as soon as Jio comes out with something. I wouldn't count BSNL to do that though.

Edit: I mentioned about mobile players, I don't think this would do anything to the landline/broadband/ftth market unless Jio enters that, which in itself is also not happening anytime soon.

BSNL and Airtel have the most loyal customers base. There must be thousands of cities where BSNL is the lone ISP and JIO would take many years to reach there and if JIO offers cheap data plans as mentioned by OP then other operators as well BSNL have to change their strategy accordingly

Jio is covering every city even villages. Still 1 year from launch there will be a big change in whole internet industry. BOOM

JIO you took so many years but please come with plans every one can afford, I pray they remove this FUP word from their database even if at 1 Mbps or 512 Kbps.

Airtel and BSNL have loyal customer not because they are good but because there is no other competitor or service provider providing services. If LTE can change definition of broadband then it would be really game changing.

I read in other country where LTE is present, they get unlimited data without any FUP 8-10 MBPS is normal so hope Reliance jio really make India a digital country. It's indeed possible. Further they got green signal to lay optical fibar which is double or triple capacity of Airtels and will decrease ping and increase speed.

I never said JIO is not covering small cities. To be honest and Indian ISP won't let go a single change to milk out customers. Existing ISP's can provide us atleast 2Mbps Post FUP but they simply dont do that, situation for mobile data is more ironic(40-50kbps post FUP).

Nothing because wireless never ever able to compete with wire. Though Jio will gain many customer which eventually choke almost all BTS.
N.B. May be 5G, 6G or 7G will outperform wired connection.

I am very positive Reliance Jio will offer 512 Kbps post FUP.

If its matter of 512 Kbps after FUP, then Idea broadband provide this speed after bundled usage limit is crossed.
Idea Cellular – Cell Phone Services |3G, Prepaid, Postpaid & Wireless Internet
They even have 1024 Kbps speed after bundled usage is crossed. But I am not sure whether they really provide it or is there any other FUP for 512/1024 speeds after bundled data is consumed.
Besides Idea broadband is available in very few cities.
