The most obvious user would be a person who does video editing - when you are working with high quality videos, those GBs go reeeeaaaaaal fast.... so anyone making things like
music videos, documentaries, video art, or even editing home videos woud need this drive...
and the next most obvious user would be the avid movie downloader / DVD ripper, who say perhaps likes having all his movies on his hard drive at the touch of a button... considering that simple DivX movies can be 1 - 1.5 GB a piece, a 400GB actually is not that huge for someone with a sizeable movie collection.
and along the lines of what idiot said, one of the disadvantages is that anything you do, like scanning the whole drive for viruses/spyware, is going to take a loooooong time if the drive is filled up significantly! And also, if you have that much data, you would probably want to back it up... which means buing another 400GB drive, or at least a DVD burner (but if HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray ever gets sorted, a backup for that drive would be quite easy, though probably time-consuming).
advantages - you have 400GB of space and never have to delete an e-mail.. I mean file again.
