So a home appliance that I bought a week back on Amazon started giving problems. I was aware that there is no replacement option in Amazon and we need to return the product and place a fresh order. When I opened the Returns page I was surprised to see a replacement option besides refund. Thought I'll use it just to see how it goes. The process is not as simple as that of Flipkart though. They generate a shipping label, declaration label and an returns authorization bar code. The returns authorization bar code needs to be printed and affixed on the inside of the package. Declaration label and shipping label needs to be affixed on the outside.

The returns is handled by FedEx and a replacement is shipped only when the defective unit reaches their warehouse. We can choose the date and time of pickup.

Will post further updates here as and when it progresses.

sounds like returning the product is better option 😀

Fedex guy called just now. He's coming to pick up the package and asked me whether I have taken printouts and affixed it on the package 😀

The shipment was picked up. It turned out that the shipment doesn't need to reach their warehouse in order for them to ship a replacement. Replacement is shipped as soon as Fedex updated the tracking details as 'Picked up'. Good enough 😀

Got the replacement delivered today. The whole process was smooth except that they sent me the replacement using normal shipping speed even though I had paid for 2 day delivery when I had placed the order. They should have shipped the replacement using the same option.
