I'm not much of a techie, so please pardon me for my bad terminology.
I was using Airtel 4G Huawei E5172 CPE router in Punjab circle for almosy one year, the tariffs no doubt were high but the speed and connection was good.
I moved to Himachal earlier in the year and just a month ago airtel 4g was launched here. However, there were only mobile and hotspot option for my location on Airtel 4G portal, and when I contacted 4g customer care I was informed that I wouldn't be able to use the Huawei router as home WiFi is not available for my area. I tried to get clarity if this is due to some Technology reason or if it's because of data plans, but the rep or his supervisor both couldn't explain convincingly.
So, I am looking for help about if and how I can use my E5172 router to use Airtel 4G in Himachal. Whether it's some technological issue like the freq band etc being used here which is incompatible with the router or if it's just a data plan issue. I can manage basic computing tasks and if the router needs to be unlocked using some code or program I would need instructions on how to do so.
I'm currently using BSNL broadband which has major connectivity issues and horribly bad customer service. Therefore I'll be more than thankful if someone can help me sort out using the 4G router.
