u're talking about getting the connection from Sify??? it's Rs. 2500/-...it really doesn't matter which pack u use...to get their connection, u'll have to pay that much as the installation charges...btw, why do want to fall in the pit when u can see the pit clearly???? 😱 just wondering... :lol:

incase your talkin abt that 256Kbps night pack...Total Price = Some installation charge(not refundable) + the pack price + maintenance charges(per pack)You and we know the pack price.Your CTO knows about the installation charge and maintenance costs.At my place they charge 1000 Rs as installation since Sify has a huge customer base here and around.Maintenance cost is 100 Rs.

Installation charges really depend on the CTO. The place where I resided last, the CTO there had charged Rs. 1600 for the installation last November. And this January he even declared the the installations to be free. (soon though he started charging Rs. 200 as maintenance)After shifting to a new place I had to get Sify installed again since it is the only ISP here and they wouldn't shift my account ( I admittedly didn't haggle about it to them). But the Sify marketing guy told me that during every new installation Sify charges Rs. 500 compulsarily as registration fee for the registration of a new ID. The rest of the amount is the charged by the CTO for laying the wires and the connection to one's house. In our new place since most houses are empty yet the CTO here said that he is looking to garner lots of subscribers so he will charge Rs. 200 only for laying the wires. Hence the installation cost for me this time was Rs. 700 (Rs. 500 + Rs. 200). And he isn't charging any maintenance yet. (touchwood!)So it varies from CTO to CTO. But I don't think it costs Rs. 2500 or Rs. 1600 to lay just cables and charge the subscribers for using the switches etc. including the CTO's profit margins. Most CTOs just loot outrageously in my opinion.

Then why is it that my CTO did not charge installation fee for a new 128 night unlimited pack .He just gave us the account id that we asked for without extra installation charges or maintanance fee.He only took 400 Rs for that particularpack.But he charges 100 Rs as maintanance for the regular 48 kbps un'limited'package.But I discontinued that pack after only a month.He keeps on egging mefor renewal of that night pack even after quite a number of days.

Well my CTO charged me 1500 bucks and i had to get my own lan cardbut he doesn't charge any maintance charge if i recharge in a week of account expiry
