As part of Sony Pictures Television Networks’ worldwide campaign to engage viewers on environmental issues, the company’s U.S. networks (getTV and Sony Movie Channel) and Crackle are joining forces to bring awareness to the conservation of National Parks.

In the midst of rapidly decreasing animal and plant life, the National Park Service plays a vital role in helping nature respond and adjust to changes in their environment as a result of global warming. Aiding in the fight against global warming, the National Parks provide wildlife with sanctuaries, safe harbor from fragmentation and pollution, while serving as invaluable locales where researchers can observe and study the various ways that diverse ecosystems and organisms react to climate change.

With over 407 National Park properties in the U.S. accounting for a total of 84.4 million acres of wilderness, the need has never been greater to solicit volunteers to assist with conservation efforts. Additionally, this movement hopes to inspire younger generations to get involved with park preservation; encourage concerned citizens to sign petitions and write local elected officials in support of NPS initiatives; and to help raise additional funds for conservancy campaigns to preserve national environments in the midst of global warming.

Picture This is a global effort by Sony Pictures Television Networks. In addition to the U.S. channels supporting National Parks, other outlets will cover topics and issues from across the globe, such as recycling in Russia; eliminating plastic bag use in Asia; waste disposal in Italy and India; saving the rhino in South Africa; urban gardening in Latin America; and deforestation in Romania.
