Communication
We have an aggressive schedule to launch B2 and we'll send you an email roughly every other week to keep you informed on noteworthy developments.

Progress
We are already storing data in B2. For example, if you are a fan of the Backblaze blog, we served up a file stored in B2 via a link in the recent Q3 Hard Drive Stats post.

While we continue to expand our storage infrastructure to meet demand, our software developers are fleshing out the user interface and billing system, and addressing early feedback from the beta.

Access
All of the employees of Backblaze have been "accepted" into the beta. We have also accepted the first handful of folks from the beta waitlist and hope to get more of you in quickly. Our plan is to accept everyone from the waitlist before launch.

using it for the last couple of days as a replacement for Amazon s3 for backing up forum's database.
the service remains in beta and there were some issues which have now been fixed.
upload speeds from dreamhost servers are not very good but serves my purpose.
i believe you still cannot download files larger than 100MB through the web interface so not a good option for sharing large files right now.
10GB storage space is free. but the point is that storage above 10GB is so cheap that it might be a great option to upload backups and other kind of data that you do not need to access through a web platform. great for archiving data.
