The Supreme Court Women’s Lawyers Association has filed for an intervention in the Kamlesh Vaswani vs Union of India case which seeks to impose a ban on all pornographic sites in India. The association’s application also seeks to implement laws which will prohibit the distribution of porn and blocking of all porn sites. The application also seeks authorities to take strict measures on distibution which includes file sharing software.

The petition filed by the association’s secretary Prerna Kumari and settled by senior lawyer Mahalakshmi Pavani says that the “root cause” of most offences against women is the easy availability of porn. It’s interesting to note that the association’s research material on the legality of pornography comes “from reliable internet source that is from Wikipedia”and a TOI report.

Cause speaking in favor of porn will get you judged as pervert. So no intervention from male counterparts.

What are the reasons of crime against women in India? Is it because of Porn?

Real reasons are poverty, illiteracy, social/cultural backwardness, low standards of living, poor law enforcement, dysfunctional judiciary and justice system. So even by banning all the porn in India (though its impossibly impractical) the problem of crime against women will continue to exist.

And i don't think porn media in India is wide spread. India is very far behind in Internet rankings. Most of the Indians don't have any internet connection. And rural areas have much of the crime against women even when there is little Porn access.

We are a broken society. We don't understand our shortcomings and failures. We try to find superficial and absurd solutions to our problems. And without considering the real facts behind the problems. Ban porn, Ban Beef, Ban Meat, Ban Internet, Ban NGOs, Ban critical views and opinions.

This nation isn't going anywhere in 21st century.
