Uninor to turn into Telenor India this month
Telecom company Uninor is all set to turn into Telenor India in the six states where it has presence, on September 23. This will mark the transition of the company from a pure voice operator into a data player with 4G services.

However, Uninor CEO Morten Karlsen Sorby had told HT last August that “We will soon start our testing for 4G services and offer it commercially where there is demand… We are no longer a voice only operator, our second phase of investment is to change from a voice-focussed to a voice and internet for all focussed operator.”

Outside Uninor office, I saw big digital ticker with words Uninor is changing to..., and ticker was showing 12 days and some hours/minutes.
 
Rebranding to main brand means they are still serious about India.
Hopefully they launch pan india gaining spectrum from either spectrum trading or via upcoming auction.
Lets see how it unfolds ...
 
Uninor has lowest tarrifs in my circle. So its mostly used by Telemarketers in my circle (and most other circles). I have blocked most of series of Uninor in call-blocking apps, as I receive Spam calls mainly from Uninor numbers. Besides hardly any of my friends use Uninor number.
I hope they become premium provider like Vodafone and provide better service.
