Also this is for orders delivered by their own courier guys.

Good luck to you if your order is shipped by courier companies like Aramex, Blue Dart etc.

I would trust a courier company alright... but how do I trust the delivery person?

i think he is saying that the delivery guy might bring his own machine and route the money to his own account?
how is paying him cash any different?

well. i guess credit card processing companies would not just give out credit card machines to anyone 😛 but i suppose you can create a business and get a machine in that business' name and use it for fake transaction. though not sure if it is going to be foolproof way to steal money :\

Right. The effort involved in making it foolproof won't prolly be worth it. I'm sure there are easier ways to steal. [emoji14]

First of all - you give cash against delivery. Since delivery boy has to deposit same amount its not going anywhere but the company for sure.

But with card based transactions - there are now machines which can "sniff" credit card data. And can be used in future? (I have seen in many videos)

Ofcourse credit card company will later detect and revert this but I will have to go through lots of process.

And if I do not be careful to verify my statements regularly - I may not even notice small transactions done by fraud.

PS: He is not going to divert package money to his account. He will definitely give money to company. I am talking about stealing CC data.

They would need to sniff your passcode as well. And if you are concerned about credit card sniffers, it is probably recommended to not swipe your card anywhere. Including debit cards at ATM machines.

I think I already made COD payment to Amazon (or Flipkart) few months ago.
I was willing to pay cash, but delivery guy said that cash above Rs 1000 was not allowed and we have to pay be debit/credit card. He just inserted some card reader module to his Samsung phone, and I entered pin on that module. After transaction was successful, I got sms of payment made to Amazon.

Flipkart accepted these payments many years ago. People used to post photos on Twitter etc. Not sure if they still do that. I usually do not use CoD so have not noticed this.
