I know these cable guys really suck. Thats the reason I moved to Tata Sky and I am currently very happy with Tata Sky. I would suggest you to put up with these cable guys till December and then make a decision after that. As per TRAI guidelines, we will get DTH STBs on rent. STB inter operability is also stressed by TRAI.

When I am suggesting you, not to go for DTH (Tata Sky or Dish), it does not mean that DTH has problems. If you wait for sometime, then you will have more options.

There are lot of advantages of DTH over the cable:

1. Power cut at the cable operator office does not affect us
2. Picture quality and audio quality are far superior than cable
3. Above all we can get rid of the arrogant cable operators

Disadvantages of DTH:
1. Signal loss during rain. But we have noticed that the signal is lost for few minutes and then comes back (with both DTH - TS and Dish) and remains unaffected even if the rain continues.

Sun dth is not worth buying right now.. as till now we had not read anywhere about sun dth agreement with Sony,zee,star, espn star sports channels.. they may just start with sun channels and few regional channels for less that 100rs..

infact a year ago only we came to know that it was just 80rs for sun dth package.

Maybe sun is also waiting for dec1 for the TRAI ruling to come into effect and they can choose the channels they want..

I am sure that SUN dth will get STAR channels. This should be part of the private agreement between TS and SUN. Also as per TRAI regulations no broadcaster can deny DTH operators any channels. So this should not be a problem.

yes, they can. but to what rumours i have heard is that they are not going to start with it.. and may wait till dec to pick and choose the channels they like.

we got official communication from sun that they will start testing their DTH signals from Nov 1st with sun channels alone.

were u able to see DD DTH channels before they launched?

anyhow they use mpeg4 technology which our normal STB does not get the signal.. also satcodx is not showing it.
