I've given a portin request to port my BSNL number 9787*****7 to Vodafone on 25th may 2015 (UPC BT6****6) in Karur Vodafone main store (opp to Krishna sweets. Karur). But after 9 days of giving application I received no response on my portin process. I approached Vodafone via twitter and some guy called me and said he'll look into the matter and after 3 days I was told you (Vodafone) haven't received any request from my side but I said that I have the Vodafone sim card I got from the Karur office so he asked if I know who I contacted in the office but I didn't have the details of the guy who I contacted at that time. So he said I'll have to visit the Vodafone office again and have to give request for MNP again. I had no time to visit the office so I decided to drop my plan of porting into Vodafone. But out of the blue I got msg from Vodafone on 12th June afternoon that my MNP request has been successfully processed and porting date and time will be communicated afterwards. But I didn't get any msg from Vodafone on when my porting will happen till now. Suddenly my mobile number stopped working from 14 June 2015. I again contacted Vodafone via twitter and I was told they need time 24 to analyze the problem. After 24 hours also there was no communication made from Vodafone so I again contacted Vodafone via twitter on 15 June 2015 and after sometime I got call from Vodafone I told the the whole story (probably for the 6th time I guess) and the lady on the phone said she'll get back to me after 2 hours time but I'm yet to receive any call regarding my complaint. I contacted the MNP helpline 15th June 2015 evening and the guy again says he needs another 24-48 hours time to even find out the problem. After repeated posting repeated messages on social media and calling their customer care helpline I get same answers as they're working on my issue. I also mailed the above said issue to Vodafone Customer care and Nodal officer but I got no response other than an acknowledgment mail. After repeated attempts to reach Vodafone nodal officer by mobile my call was put on wait forever everytime.

I hope this will not happen to me as I have also made port in request to Vodafone. On my first visit to Vodafone store, executive didn't fill up whole form, just asked me to sign on the form and photograph. Didn't gave me sim card. At that time I was in hurry and wasted my 1 hour by waiting in the vodafone store just for my turn to came up. So I left after signing. On second day again I visited vodafone store, and asked for sim card, they provided me one. Now lets see what happens.
I also contacted to verify that my request is processed or not, via Vodafone's twitter handle. They are saying they will arrange for a call.
will update later once I got some information.

Arranging call back and talking so politely are some of the things Vodafone are good at.
I've talked (fought) for hours with customer support. But no use they always say the same thing over and over again

just because of our laws( rather process to get justice) are so weak, these companies are got away with malpractices. IF this thing happens in developed countries they have to pay heavy fine.

Yesterday received sms of port out request approved from donor operator to Vodafone. But till now not received when it will happen.
Hope it will happen tonight.

Old card stopped working from 10: pm and Vodafone card not getting network. So voda goofs up something in my case. Tomorrow I think U have to visit voda store to sort out problem.

I thought the connection stays down for 2-4 hours during which the actual porting is done at the backend?

I have done porting (for various numbers) from Airtel to Vodafone, Vodafone to BSNL, BSNL to Idea. Never faced any issues.
All porting happened quite easily without loss of service. All were prepaid numbers.

Normally it does. Never Had any problem from any operator in past.
What happen this time, AT vodafone store, raise voice against executive as he was attending persons who were not having token( I mean at Vodafone store, one has to get token and wait for the turn, and that executive attended out of turn person.) So that time he didn't fill up my MNP form properly, not given me sim card. Has to visit on second day for getting sim card. At that time also I think he didn't enter sim card details in system, so my MNP is not gone smoothly as happened in past.
But today morning I visited Vodafone store and at this time he entered correct sim card details.
I hope in a hour or two my card will activate on Vodafone.

So the MNP systems are flawless, its human interaction that causes trouble most of the time 🙂

First of all sorry for the delayed reply 😀
Same happened in my case also Mr @tri_vis . The moron at Vodafone store has given the wrong SIM number in the system so the system didn't recognize my SIM card as Vodafone SIM hence didn't allow my mobile to connect to Vodafone tower thereby I wasn't getting signal. After 5 days I managed to contact the guy at Vodafone store in mobile (before also tried contacting him but he didn't answer my calls) finally to whom I've given MNP application. He coolly asks for my SIM number after hearing my problem, as I was saying my last digits of the SIM number he says a wrong numbers and asks me if it was my SIM number I said no and I provided correct SIM number after 15-20 minutes I got signal in mobile and called 117 to verify my address details and voila! I got my number ported to Vodafone...

Things I've learned from this:
1. I've already provided My SIM card details to Vodafone via Facebook message but they didn't give a DAMN
2. Vodafone (all) customer execs listen to your problem to just to give a reply but not understand the problem or provide a solution.
3. Company has a Nodal officer just for the namesake. They don't reply to your mail or answer your phone call.

Yes. I've ported My Vodafone number to BSNL & BSNL to Aircel without a hitch. Only this time I face lot of hassle with Vodafone

As I said they're really good at responding your queries ASAP & talking so politely. But the problem is weather all their replies are any useful?
