Plex Geeks? I need a hardware setup for Plex.

Transcoding is needed when your client device does not support playing the video natively. Say for instance the video is in H265 format with AC3 audio, and your device doesn't support H265 format, Plex will need to convert the video on the fly to a format supported by your device. And that needs...

Plex Geeks? I need a hardware setup for Plex.

As I mentioned earlier, you would need a better CPU if you need transcoding (and this depends on your client/player devices too), also if you want to access Plex over the internet where the video might need to be downscaled etc. If you are confident that all your players/client devices can...

Plex Geeks? I need a hardware setup for Plex.

You could attach a 2.5 inch HDD or use a SSD which can be connected directly to the main board (I think its PCI-E mSATA, there maybe newer ones now). I just got a 16 GB SSD and use that for the OS. As I said its just a normal PC, so you install the OS how you'd install it on any PC (use a USB...

Plex Geeks? I need a hardware setup for Plex.

I think it would also depend on what you expect from it. If you need it to transcode video, a basic NAS is not going to cut it. But If you just need it to stream videos as is (provided your client/player supports it), then any basic NAS device should work. For transcoding, you'd need a device...

@netseeker Couldn't agree more, I like their products but for some basic features its really slow. For the hap ac2, you can look at Multilink -- MikroTik hAP ac² Its shown as OOS right now, but it usually comes back in stock soon. Or you could email them and ask.

^ @netseeker Yeah, there is just a feature request thread on their forums, I don't think we'd get the support soon.

BSNL FTTH work during power outage?

For those whose last mile is done through an LCO, I guess it would depend on the LCO whether they have battery backup or not. Same as the cable guy. Would need to test whether my LCO has power backup.

BSNL Broadband FTTH Bharat Fiber 777 & 1277 Plans now have monthly FUP limits

So from what my LCO told me, if the fibre link is down, then call the LCO, for everything else call BSNL. In your case it looks like an LCO problem since the link itself is down. Calling BSNL might be futile as they essentially would have to co-ordinate with the LCO again and we know how the...
